Guys,

Anybody know if it's worth doing any close shopping in San Jose? I know sometimes in foreign countries you can get a discount on clothing?

In downtown you are going to pay more for clothes and what you will find is a lot of made in China crap. If you want deals on clothes go to Colombia, Nicaragua or Panama.

It was about 5 years ago when I walked down to Ave Central with a young monger who bought several pair of fancy pants for 1/3rd the price he would have paid in the US. He knew where to go and what he was looking for so he may have checked online. Went to the Galeria Central I think between the Presidente and Grand Hotel. But he blew his savings later that night when he paid a chica upfront.

Typically clothes are more expensive in CR. I would agree with ILP's statement above for better shopping destinations.

Good clothes are more expensive in CR than US. Same with shoes. There's a bunch of cheap shit from China that is cheap but will fall apart after 1 wash.

And clothing sizing is similar to condoms, much smaller than the US. I wear XL (clothes and condoms btw  ) and find the XL is CR is about an L in the US.

Yeah, they don't make/carry your size in CR. You're a giant among smurfs.
