Do the girls still quote $100, and can be negotiated down from there? Are they trying to ask for more, and does anyone pay more? Been a while since I've been in SJ, wondering if anything has changed. |

Yes and $80 is not uncommon to settle on. Never been quoted higher than $100 |

Sounds like you've been there before. My suggestion, don't let them quote - make your offer before it gets to that. To Jfoot's post $80 is a solid payday. A few have blanched at offers of $70 in my recent visits. If you can deal in Colones, even better. I've done well with offers of 40K which is roughly $75. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk After looking at some 'exchange rates' some chicas are posting online, I think this is good advice - and it's important to get the best exchange rate YOU can. For example, a chica that works at IDEM has a 'blog' where she has her contact info and quotes CRC 0K for an hour and a half - or $140. Her exchange rate is CRC 500 - $1 and the 'offical rate' (as of yesterday) is CRC 545 to $1, so CRC 70K is more like $129. Now, in the selva, where the closest bank is an hour and a half by boat and bus, the local store / money changer gives CRC 500 to $1 but I can understand that. |

Agreed. Always quote in colones, unless you specifically plan to pay in Dollars. Hogdogg is also right, that you should be the first to mention money. Don't be offended if she balks. Remember, you should already have had "the talk" about what you want to do in the room. If you haven't yet explained that you prefer BBBJ and yet she still balks at your opening offer, then you are either really lowballing for the quality, or you have found yourself a 'princess' who is overvaluing the materials. |

There are many factors determining what they will accept. If the rey is busy, peer pressure to stick to cien, nicas over ticas, ticas that would rather go home empty than accept less, and the nicas being more business oriented, will take as little as 25 mil if it's slow, if the ladies are broke and have urgent bills to pay, etc.. 25-30 mil is reasonable , if its slow. Getting the price down is a matter of NOT making them feel like they arent worth a hundred, but rather what the present circumstance are. Dont make them feel that you are cheap, but rather practical. I like for them to offer a price first, rather than negotiate against myself. I had a discussion with 2 nicas yesterday. we discussed that if they went for 25 mil, once or twice a day, and worked five days a week , they would clear about a $1,000 a month; which is good money for them. They agreed. It would be impossible to apply that logic to the tica mindset. One evening around 6:00 It was dead in the Rey and prospects werent looking good. I said to a little nica. "i offer you breakfast in the morning and 30 mil, and it may be the best deal you may get all night" it took her three minutes to say yes. She also cleaned the kitchen and ironed my shirts. I havent met a tica that would . But needless to say, paying top dollar is okay as well. But IMHO it doesnt change the quality of the service. |

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk I will offer in colones, usually start at 30mil if i am semi interested and they are less than an 8. Rarely do they walk off and i speak spanish well enough to make it seem like a joke so they don't get pissy... Several times 30mil has been accepted without hesitation, but for the most part 40 mil 'con propina si todo bien' usually will help land quality 8s. Otherwise, cien for the 9's and the ones i just have to have after gauging their attitude... |
