Hey everyone headed to CR in two weeks, was wondering if HDR offered wifi? and if so has anyone used Wifi calling?

Was at HDR about 2 weeks ago and there was definitely wi-fi.
1 Mbps down and lucky to get 1 Mbps up, also drops frequently (was on 4th floor if that makes a difference).

Good enough for reading news/emails, watching videos/streaming would definitely be a stretch (do-able but prepare to wait a long time for load times).

Phone calls are do-able but extremely low quality/laggy and drop frequently.

I needed to do some work and make some calls and used Movistar's network. Not too much better, ~3-5 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up, but the connection was very reliable and never dropped.

I use WiFi calling on my Google Fi plan - or as we call it 'calling'. Google Fi works in San Jose (haven't tried the rest of the Central Valey) and seamlessly moves from Kolbi to WiFI and back.

I still have a unlocked GSM phone for DR use with a Kolbi SIM.

And most Ticos use WhatsAPP more than anything else.
