Last week, I had to give a chica a lesson in punctuality.

In the past, I like many of you, I have made appts and have waited, and waited, and waited for them to arrive with no even a believeable excuse nor apology. Well, those days are over.

My new rule is 15 minutes. As 9:00am came and went, I started getting dressed at 9:15, and at the exact time that she came waltzing in at 9:25, I was passing her in the hallway with "I'm sorry, I made other plans after waiting 15 minutes". NEXT! The look on her face was priceless. No explanataion was needed or requested, I just didn't give a phuck at that point. I didn't stick around to hear what she had to say. No money was given either.

These bitches have gotten so spoiled that they believe that it's ok to be 30-60+ minutes late. But I don't play those games anymore. :twisted:

This is comical. One guy thinks he is going to change the habits of the current working girls and the ones to come years from now. Giving a girl a 15 minute window is not the answer.

In 2006 girls were late. In 2015 girls are late. Why would I fret over it?

The method I have found to me to be the most level headed and intelligent is to be ready at the time we discuss. I sit and read a book or tidy my home or do many other things until they actually get here. I understand that this is Costa Rica and:
1. I am not dealing with sophisticated adults that understand the principles behind and the value of punctuality.
2. I am in a country where the culture is often to be late.
3. A road can be shut off here for a minor accident causing a normally 20 minute commute to now take an hour.

Life is about learning to be happy, not finding new grievances and stalemates.

I guess we all have our peeves. Being from a German family I was conditioned to be on time, even if it means waiting because I'm early. I find the ex military guys (thank you) have the same orientation. I could see Orange's approach working to put a regular in line. But yeah these chicas are in business... but don't really operate as business people. Another approach is to wait it out and then take your frustration out on her pinocha. I agree with orange and MH I have seen guys sit at the bar both mine and at the lodge and wait for girls for hours then get all pissed off when she shows up late and start fighting or even worse she never shows mean while he is surrounded by other hot chicas that would be happy to take his money and he would have a good time but instead he is pissed and wasting his vacation time Guys don't put the pusy on a pedestal especial when there are so many out there looking to give you a good time or are you going to give the excuse ( BUT THIS ONES DIFFRENT ) this is your vacation so enjoy it. I personally don't know how long I'd wait. I've only done a couple arranged times. One was 15 min late but she is a regular at SL so I wasn't really sweating it. When I used to set an appointment with a girl, I would let her know that if she is going to be late to let me know so I can either do other things or I can wait depending on the situation. I used to tell them I did not care if they are with another guy, as we are both adults and both of us know what is going on, so there is no need to lie to me. I then let them know that after 15 mins and no message or call I may or may not be available. I then stick with what I told her, and do not give in and change my rule. This way everything is out in the open ahead of time and I don't feel like a dick if I move on to the next one.

wasn't saying to be a fool and sit around looking at the door i suppose a lot of that goes on especially in a shooting gallery like the gulch i like what liv4play said about putting a cap on your time in terms of how long you may be available if she cares she'll be close enough or call having had a place on the other side of town i can say i was late to more than one gathering due to the shitty traffic and road work in that city can't imagine a piece of ass being a little late being a reason to get angry getting angry just ruins your day/night/vacation, go do something else and forget about it or take a deep breath, be grateful you can afford to fly to another country, get a cold beer and smile at a different girl

Where did I say, or even imply, that I was intent on changing the culture? I'm not naive enough to believe that I can change it. You're inferring too much in my post. I simply said that I will not longer allow them to treat me like a sucker (and 99% of the time, they're not stuck in traffic, they just didn't get up in time or overslept, or simply didn't think it's important to be on time), and won't be putting them on a pedestal like Jim said, and waiting and waiting endlessly until they decide to show up or not, without the courtesy of a phone call. There's too many fish in this little pond to sit there like as puppy dog waiting to be brought a treat. If you, or anybody else, want to continue to allow them to show up when they please, that is your right and will not affect me. My post was not a gringo call to arms against tardiness. You live here so time isn't limited as it is for us tourists. I may only have 1 or 2 days to monger during a trip, due to other obligations, so punctuality is important for me. I don't want to be a dick and double or triple book. If they all show up on time, it can be awkward. Like others have mentioned, it may be a good idea to "warn" them about not being late without calling and letting me know. This hasn't been an issue that often but every trip one or two pull that shit, and I just don't care for it any longer. I don't get angry, more like annoyed. It doesn't bring me down, or weigh on me all vacation. As soon as I walked past her, I'd forgotten all about it and was looking for a substitute teacher.
