Seems like I remember seeing someone advertised here, or maybe discussed here, that ships things to CR. I remember going to their website. I think it was something like shippingcr.com . Hope this helps. I also get a couple CR newspaper feeds on my iphone, i might have seen it there. |

Asco1410 wrote: I send packages through the US post office and never had any trouble a lot cheaper than 130!! You have been lucky. Does the chica have an actual address or the typical "150 meters west of the Pine tree next to the McDonalds, across from the Toyota dealership"? There are places that ship in containers and they would take your package. It takes a couple of weeks but it's cheap. I think I heard about $2/pound. You may want to contact Aerocasillas too: http://www.aeropost.com/web/frontend/pr ... ountry=sjo The way it works is that you ship the package to some Florida address and they then take it forward to CR and the chica picks it up in San Jose or wherever. |

If you want to ship inexpensively, ask the the recipient to get a post office box. They cost about $30/year and first class US mail takes about 2 weeks, provided there aren't any major holidays. No matter which service you use, don't ship anything like new or with the original receipts. if you do, then when customs searches the package it will be diverted for sales (import) tax payment. However, if you take out all the original packaging and receipts no taxes will be applied. |

Aerocasillas is not a bad way to ship but takes a little time. |

They are legit, and based out of Miami. I don't know what you are trying to ship, size why, but you can always put a post to see if someone from your area is coming down and has room in their suitcase. |

Airmailcr ships through Miami. I believe it is run by some US expats. If I remember correctly they have a pickup office down the street from HDR and another in Heredia. http://www.airmailcr.com/ |

Is that for shipping to Costa Rica! One Tica called me when I was in Costco and saw some clothing for K*ds during the call, she wanted to know if I could get the clothes for her K*D - about $30 in clothes. Also, I was going to send leftover Halloween candy. I went to UPS and they said it would cost $1,111. Not a joke. They printed the estimate. No, not a big box or a heavy box. Now it’s the K*D’s birthday and she wanted to know if I could send it. After that quote, I said no. Is there a cheap way to send small packages to San José? |

I second what LocoGringo says about AirmailCR. The owner is a gringo friend of mine. He lives in Escazu and has been operating this business for many years. You can send your package to a Doral, Florida address and it will be plastic wrapped on a pallet and airmailed to Costa Rica. Airmail CR will get it thru Aduana and hand delivered to the recipient. As you can imagine it's not for inexpensive items, but since people in CR do not have mailing addresses, it's really hard to get things shipped to (or from) Costa Rica. PM me if you would like my friend's CR tele number http://www.airmailcr.com/ |

I think I am just going to throw away those stupid Costco clothes and Halloween candy. This sending a package to CR is a pain in the ass. Learn from my stupidity and don’t be nice. Between the Government Customs bandits wanting 30% tax, plus the receipts, plus boxing it up and sending it, it’s just cheaper to throw it in the garbage and forget about it. They would never be this “nice” to us. |

Bringing a gift is a lot easier than sending one. |
