If you are planning your San Jose or Jaco travels around Easter or Christmas you will find fewer chicas. CR is a Catholic country and people spend these times with family. Caveat: Days leading up to Christmas can be good as some chicas want to earn a bit extra for the holiday. There will always be some chicas, but options will be thinner. A number of bars and MPs will be closed or run reduced holiday hours around Christmas and Easter. You can still have a great trip but if you are looking for maximum chica availability, pick a different time. Especially for your first visit. Other Costa Rican holidays, observances, and festivals available here: http://costa-rica-guide.com/travel/best ... s-fiestas/ https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/costa-rica/2017 I was there during Santa Romaria and things were notably quiet. A number of Tico run establisments closed shop at noon. While we are on the subject. Any major US holiday or psuedo holiday - Labor Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Super Bowl, Halloween... etc. You will find the number of mongers (and visitors in general) goes way up. With demand up, expect to pay more for hotels, and possibly chicas. "Dude! That 3 day weekend would be a good time for international travel! I'll save a vacation day!" Not an original thought, MANY share that idea with you. Again, you can have a good time whenever you go. Hopefully this sheds some light on our hobby's market dynamics as it relates to holidays. It's all but impossible to quantify the impact of a holiday. Can't say you'll see 1/2 as many chicas, three times the mongers, 80% fewer 9s & 10s... etc. You can ask, but nobody knows for sure. A directional view is as good as it gets. Just me but I avoid all of the above. I prefer to steer clear of reduced supply or increased demand. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |

3 day weekends are excellent times to head down there, actually. You'll get to meet many other mongers, and make some good contacts. The chicas know when there is a guyfest on, and they'll come out if the need money. And if they don't need money, they won't work regardless of their options. Very few of these girls think ahead. They live day to day. My teams usually take 9 day stints across 3 day weekends (need only take 4 days off of work). This allows Jaco runs for the adventure stuff, some beach time, and still plenty of time to monger. |

I'm a recovering introvert and therefore take a pass. Either way I wanted to get this thread going for all the 1st timers that come out of the woodwork everytime a holiday approaches. We are planning a trip in March or April, please help, which of these options are better, and these dates land on their Holy Week?: Option A: 03/17 - 03/21 (2016) OR Option B: 03/31 - 04/04 (2016) |

For 2016 Holy Week 'Santa Semana' technically starts on the Sunday the 20th of March. I doubt the Sun/Mon of your first set of travel dates would be impacted much. It's really the Friday heading into Easter that would change the scene, March 25-27. That's after your first set of proposed travel dates. So... either set of dates should be fine, as I mentioned in your other thread. http://bfy.tw/3LE5 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |

Things slow down on Thursday and start back up on Saturday midnight. Thursday and Friday before Easter are the worst. I also agree with Hotdog 3 day holidays are usually a sausage feast. |

I've been a few times over the past 3 years and yet to see a difference, I mostly travel on Holidays just tends to be the time I get off. I can always find something I like, it's not really that hard. Typically if there is less woman then there is less men. One fellow monger made the comment at Del Ray "Look at all the guys here". I started laughing and he wondered why. I said cause I don't come here to count guys, I never even looked till he made the comment, but every night I seen more than a few woman I liked and went home happy with a girl in arm. I always have a couple of contacts in my phone if I run into a dry night but I don't ever see that happening. Most the #'s I have are for setting up for another day. Another monger already informed me even a few MP's will be open Xmas eve and Xmas. I know a lot of monger who can't travel here on Xmas/new years because of family commitments(yeah more for me!) Also there was influx of cubans and I seen some working over Thanksgiving, and will be there a few months, and finally some woman that are from other countries Nic, Colub, DR just work through the holidays. |

Adding two cents.. Was in SJO the month of August once and the weekend was quiet around August 15th was told it is their Mother's Day which coincides with a Catholic religion time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk |
