I am looking at traveling down to SJO/Jaco over New Years, likely the something like the 30th through the 6th. Is it worth it then or is everyone still at home?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the links. I think I had seen those posts, as well as reading the guide which says that Christmas week was a down time to go. I guess I am wondering if it will have picked back up for New Years week or if that whole time is dead. I see a lot of generalities, but no real specifics (e.g., are places like Zona II closed then; is HDR deserted or just 1/2 strength, etc.)

Zona2 will reopen on January 4, 2016.
There should be girls around at the DR , New Fantasy, Relax, SL and Monicas even though the numbers will be small.

So not totally deserted but more slim pickings than normally. I checked the hotels in Jaco and the prices were obscene ($300+ a night), so I am guessing it is pretty packed there, but more with families than hobbyists?

I was thinking a day trip out there just to check out the scene. Would it be any better than the gulch?

Thanks for the info so far. Much appreciated.

Only place with girls is the Hotel Cocal around the pool area. They are there after 11 A.M. very few. With all the families descending on Jaco they may not be there . I really do not know.
Also you would have to find a short time hotel if you find a girl.
See the thread below this "San Jose to Jaco" for a cheap one day trip.
the first bus leaves at 6 AM and the last bus returning is at 5 PM. It take 3 and half hours.
Girls usually want $100 should agree to $80.
Up to you. I would not bother.
