Hi all.

A wingman and I are booked to spend 5 nights in Jaco for Halloween weekend. We are flying in on Wednesday 28th until Monday 2nd November.

I am wondering if anyone can confirm if there are any Halloween Festivities in Jaco typically? Is the Cocal or anywhere hosting similar parties as to the sportsmen or Zona?

Or are we straight out of luck and should be trying to get to Sanjose for the Sat night?

Any help appreciated.

Dave

Jaco's climate is warm, moist and sticky....not conducive to wearing a costume, more appropriate for hanging out naked with a lovely chica :D in your room.

If you are looking for Halloween parties, SJO is the place...both SL and HDR have them.

What up Dave! So you bringing J down with you again or some other unsuspecting CR virgin? Too bad, I will miss you by less than 2 weeks this time. Stick with SJ for this trip bro, all the action will be in the SL-Z2-DR triangular shaped clam that weekend.

Haha no Jonny this time..but this time I am bringing one of Jonnys friends. A CR virgin.

We had booked a penthouse for 5 nights in Jaco but thanks to Don and one lucky dogg. He managed to sling us a couple of rooms at the Mona Lisa for the Sat and Sun night at very last minute. So 3 nights in Jaco and then 2 nights in SJ. That way we will not miss any of the Halloween festivities :D :D :D

Halloween is huge in Jaco. Biggest Party is always at Backyard Bar in Playa Hermosa...usually best before 1am...after that it gets too crowded and hot. After 1am the party moves back to Jaco to all of the usual bars...Orange, Le Loft, & Los Amigos and the new Wave Club(Now open til 5am) will be good. Holy Moly at Croc's Casino has been good too. There will be chicas at all of the places.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Hey Marc, tell me about the Monkey Bar. The two times I have been to Jaco and ventured there, it was reggaton sessions and packed to the hilt with locals. Best club times I've had in CR. Are those nights typical of the MB, or did I just get lucky?

You got extremely lucky. That is not really a bar gringos should be going to now days IMHO...crowd has gotten a little too rough for my tastes even before this happened.

That's local crime, not aimed at tourists. Yes, it's possible to get caught up in it, but that's the same as back home.

I never felt in danger while there, with all the locals I bumped into while inside the building clanking their beer into mine and saying either "Pura Vida" or something that seemed to mean the same thing. One bought me a replacement after knocking mine out of my hand. I reciprocated (meaning I bought him a round, not smacked his beer to the ground!).

Of course, as you know I tend to walk into disasters, eyes wide open. So newbies should heed PVT and not me. Next time I'm there, I'll post what I experience.

Its a small world....I am the former owner of Monkey Bar and sold it about 18 months ago. The bar recently closed due to poor management.

The Reggae Sunday that we had at Monkey Bar has moved to a new Bar called Club Wave which is right in the center of town next to Tsunami Sushi. There is also a good Reggae Night on Wednesday at Jaco Blu. There is also a new bar called Loro Loco who are having Reggae Nights.

Hope that helps.
