If on foot and unfamiliar with the area, the best way to find it is to go to the Banco Nacional skyscraper, west side - which is calle 4- and head south. South is towards the long red and white Bank of Costa Rica street sign. Monica is a straight shot that way down c4, on the left between a8 and a10. If you don't see the Central Bank of Costa Rica and its human statuary on your left within a block of Banco Nacional, you are heading in the wrong direction.

This area of town is confusing even with a map because many of the intersections are not marked.

I find skyscrapers to be the most helpful landmarks.

-------------------------------------------------------------
The north/south sides of the Banco Nacional building have the little logo.

The easiest way to get to it is to take the walking street to C4, and then head south. The second corner has a big blue corner building, and the next has a big red corner building. The third is the start of the block for Monicas, which is half-way down and has a sign overhead.

If I remember correctly on Walking street Calle 4 is not marked.
I asked a couple of friendly cops if I had reached the corner of walking and calle 4 and one of them said yes and the other began to inform me about the street layout in the city. I listened politely for a few minutes and then left before the V kicked in and I got a hard on in front of a cop :D
Not sure if that is a crime. Never can tell these days.
Monicas has a clearly marked sign and you ring a bell to be let in.

Not sure if all the taxi drivers know Pension Monica's, but they should know where the gas station La Castellana is. Monica's is 200m este y 50m norte de La Castellana.

Just tell them Calle 4, entre Avenida 8 y 10. That way they come in from the South and can drop you off at the door rather than the corner. It's simple.

Never ask a taxista to take you to a named Sala. Gawd only know where they'll take you: prolly New Fantasy!

Walking and calle 4 intersect at BCR. At that intersection I saw an avenue central sign but no calle 4 sign.

I checked it as well this week. No sign for Calle 4.

Also, I have seen 2 or 3 cops that could give me a hard-on, sin V.!!! It's such a shame to give those ladies weapons!

Dwarf, I dare you to ask them for a date, maybe with handcuffs. You might have better game than I .

I HAVE chatted to at least two of them, but they stay official. They smiled/chuckled at my attempts to engage, but I recall at least one that didn't seem to approve of small talk to me. She just adjusted her jacket and walked away from me. But they all answered my question about directions, and were far more polite than female cops in the states.
