I've been back home from my 1st CR visit for about 3 weeks now and no longer find joy in the 'Lil things. 8" of snow with 3''-4'' more on the way. Large 4 on a 10 scale women with 10 on a 10 scale attitudes. $100 a half hour washed up hookers, who try to make 30 minutes 15 minutes. And Blah Blah Blah!

It's gonna be 8 months before I can go back for round 2. Any advice would be much appreciated.

NJ

The symptoms you describe have a clinical name, post trip withdrawl syndrome, aka PTWS. PTWS is eperienced by many, so know you have company. There is no cure for PTWS but it can be managed. You've already taken the initial steps.

1) Continue to read and participate in the forum. If you have 8 months to the next trip - you can read the ball shaving and saga of rolltide threads in full. When you finish reading it will be time to pack for your trip.

2) Plan your next trip. Good man, you're on top of this one. Do extra research, reflect on lessons learned, and plan a bit on what you might do different. Study maps and locations. I do this and manage to get myself around much better than were I to try and figure things out on the fly.

3) If not fluent, enhance your spanish skills. Not much else to say here.

4) Find another hobby. I recently started an excersise routine. When I'm about to die on the crosstrainer I imagine that my next phuck depends on finishing the time I set. And as a NFC member having stamina is necessary.

5) This is a tough one... stop hobbying at home. Don't poop where ya eat... because as you noted the cooking sucks, and it makes you compare it to the CR experience. I drive by the 'massage parlor' and it's tempting. Then I think of how many good times I can have in CR with the $ I would have spent.

6) Manage your CR network. If you have some facebook or whatsass contacts stay in touch. I'm finding it pays dividends.

Go to your doctor and ask him to give you hormone deprivation therapy (chemical castration). I went through it while undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. The side effects such as growing boobs and hot flashes suck but once you have no testosterone you can walk into a room filled with naked Nicas, not get a hard on and not even think about sex. Other than that, faced with 8 months in hell, I'd consider the rope.

HD is spot on. CRT became my therapy until I learned to deal with the depression. It's difficult, but having your next trip planned is a bug major step forward.

Keep posting, and encourage others to write trip reports.

Sounds like with the proper treatment PTWS can be put in remission, with the ocassional flare up. I appreciate the advice and am puting my rope away for now.

I've been hitting the DuoLingual app hard and practicing at the local Super Mercado where I buy Coca Cola Lights and mangos. But! I'll admit to struggling with the no local Mongering. Huge Vietnamese population in my neighborhood and these MP Ladies are the next best thing to Tica/Nica Poon, in my book. 8)

No matter how many times I fall of that wagon, I'll dust myself off and climb back on!

Good thing finding a job takes the chicas off my mind for now. As soon as I find another job I am heading back dowm.

Duolingo can only get you so far, and in no way far enough to talk.

Check out my personal learning thread. It might help you out.

:( Just had to postpone trip #2 in July do to family issues! :(

Crushing sense of hopelessness and defeat setting in. Local Mongering scene looking even more crappy now. Can barely muster the energy to enjoy the local Vietnamese MP Ladies!

Dios me ayuda!!!

NJ :(

I feel for ya. Just focus on the drama of the day, and know that SJO and MDE are there for ya. You'll be there soon.
