Post subject:  Questions for the HDR vets

Hey all,

I am not new to mongering but I am new to CR and i have a few questions maybe some of your veterans can help me out with. I'm planning my first trip to CR and am going to stay at the HDR for ease and will venture out from there as need be. I know almost every answer depends on the day/girl/crowd/whatever but generally speaking....

1. What's the DR scene like for a 30 year gringo traveling alone? Besides the girls, I like to drink and be social, is it a older crowd that looks down on the younger first timers in CR? I'm not looking to meet a new best friend just curious how friendly people are...

2. How long is a good length of time to stay first time in CR? I was planning on getting there on a Thursday and leaving on a Monday assuming weekends are the best time? I know everyday is different but in general? Also looking to go between now and June, any recommendations?

3. I don't know a lick of Spanish, I've read the girls know enough to make a deal but in general how little English do they know? I know it depends on the girl but in general?

4. Is it true the hotter girls at HDR know they are the hottest girls and are hard to negotiate anything extra without paying an arm and a leg? Obviously every girl is different and it depends on the guy/chemistry but in general if you want GFE or C*m shot or whatever you're looking for within reason is it tough to bargain with the 9s and 10s?

Appreciate any info, just trying to get a better idea of what to expect...

Ill be glad to answer all of your questions, but I am Chinese
#1 People not friendly here. Girls only like men over 40, not studly 30 year old
#2 You stay only one day, any more too many
#3 Need to know Spanish or lucky-girl not talk to you, but Chinese language best for fucky sucky
#4 Always pay dollar 100, or in renembi 10000. You never negotiate

It doesn't matter if you are 21 or 81, if you bring American dollars the girls will have interest in you.

It doesn't matter if you stay a weekend as some guys do or a couple weeks, poonage is always available, a little less on Sunday's so it might be a good idea if you find one you really like b4 then, arrange for a follow up on Sunday, plus many girls deliver more the second time around and you now know each other better and you and she feel more comfortable with each other, the awkwardness is over and she generally appreciates the compliment of a request for second visit.

Many girls speak enough English to communicate and understand your requests, many speak good English. If you choose one who speaks no English you are at a greater risk of misunderstanding and not getting what you want.

I don't know what you mean by "bargain", most of the top looking girls at HDR in the evening are pretty strict about $80 to $100, if that's acceptable to you, you will be shown a good time if you take a while to talk to her and get to know her, feel a good vibe from her. Is she enjoying your conversation? Is she laughing and friendly and fun? If she's cool and rushing you and all business, beware, I would move on.

Don't be hesitant to state what you want, this isn't your first date for the senior prom, these are professionals and have heard it all, be polite about it, you can say "I really like XXX, are you ok with or good at that? Some guys are hesitant to ask because they feel it voids the "romance" and spoils the moment. Nonsense, if you don't make things clear upfront what you want you have a greater risk of disappointment.

At HDR avoid the ones who are parading around, giant fake tatas, loud, hanging with lots of friends, looking like the pros that they are. I find gems sitting in the back bar by the side street by themselves or playing the slots alone or with one friend. I generally avoid the ones who approach me aggressively and pick my own, don't be afraid to stroll around the place and see if one really interests you and then make your move.

If a girl is really aggressive with you, and you want to get rid of her, you can say "I just had one and not interested now, or I am waiting for someone, she is on her way. don't be afraid to walk away, it's your vacation, your money.

I find for whatever reason girls working at HDR in the mornings and afternoons will generally accept less, many really hot ones will take $50 to $70. I don't know why, that's been my experience.

Most guys you will meet are friendly, we're all happy and excited to be there, I see and talk to young guys all the time. I've been coming to HDR over 10 years and always make new friends and we hit other restaurants, bars and MP's together. There's safety in numbers walking around and you can share cab expenses in the evening. If anything, some of the older guys will be willing to give you advice and show you around, but you'll see guys around your age too.

Before you come down, announce your arrival time a few days before your arrival date here and request meet ups, lot's of guys will react and many will be experienced and can give great advice and/or show you the ropes.

Don't restrict yourself to HDR, get over to Scores and Zona II, they are great MP's, favorites of members here, American owned. Prices are about $50 plus tip, the rooms are clean and nice for 1 hour plus they both serve food and drinks. Another great meeting and hangout place is Sportsman's lodge, a smaller more friendly hotel a lot of members here really like, food is great and a smaller selection of girls, but gems to be found, a little more laid back atmosphere.

Between now and June...THE SOONER THE BETTER !!!!! Easter and Xmas are to be avoided, and if you're going to travel outside San Jose to enjoy nature, the dry season is best, if you're going to just hang around and monger, who cares if it's raining???

Don't be getting drunk and wandering around at night, spend a few bucks more and take cabs at night, don't invite a mugging, this is a poor country and muggers know you have cash and credit cards. Daytime walking around is generally safe but there are areas to avoid. There's a map in here, find it and print it out.

Have a great time, welcome to the club !!!

Excellent questions and sage advice from the Bros. Remember HDR has an "elevator fee" ($10 ?) every time you take a Chica upstairs. HDR is a reasonable choice the first time you come down to CR--after that, you might "fish" there but stay elsewhere (cabs are cheap and frequent), and a good taste of the Sportsman's Lodge or L'Amistad will convince you that neighborhood is all around better (no known restrictions about bringing outsiders into either one, and the SL pool is usually well-stocked + great convos with Bros to be had). Best of luck and skill.

Hey Net.............

I'm surprised that you don't know this......... ScoreS closed before Christmas and never re-opened.

We lost a great venue, and the direct employees lost their shirts for Christmas.

The ScoreS talented line-up is scattered elsewhere now.

Now Jazzbo,

I'm going to be forced to bust your testicles in a friendly way. I have to confess, those that know me here know I am a tireless advocate for the HDR, but I do like the SL, I tried to reserve a room on short notice there once but because they're so popular it was already booked, and I did take a peek into La Amistad and was impressed with the classy set up, the famous excellent massages by Hazel and heard tales of their fantastic food. Both places are definitely in quieter, safer, prettier less raucous neighborhoods. 8)

I will own up to the negatives of HDR, often loud, dingy hood, constant pestering by beggars and guys selling cigars, watches, sunglasses, etc., all of dubious quality. The rooms, although large and clean do look a little out of date if a classier hotel room is of interest.

Now I may be incorrect here but HDR always charges me $50 to $55 per room per night and my MO is to score a daily session at an MP and bring one girl up to my room at night, 2 at the most in any given day, but rarely.

So, based on my accounting background, $55 plus the $11 visit fee adds up to $66, on the rare occasion I bring 2 in one day that's $77. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard these other places charge $70 to $80 per room anyway, so unless a patron of HDR is some testosterone filled stud, bringing 3,4,5 chicas a day to his room, the meager room fee is irrelevant. :?

Now for the more frugal gents among us who frequent the Morazon and Mona Lisa, I suppose that is a valid argument and if you don't mind the first establishment being a dump and the second one where your sox could be removed from your feet at night, your room safe ripped from the walls in your absence and cats flying out of the ceiling panels, a gentleman who's fingerprints are imbedded in all his coins could incur some savings in those outlets and the $11 visitor fee is a valid complaint. :x

I'm not saying there are legitimate reasons for some individuals who prefer quieter, more friendly classier places to avoid the HDR, but I'm just saying the $11 visitor fee is not one of them because from what I've heard and been quoted, the nicer places charge more anyway. :!:

For you new guys, you may discover after your first visit at the HDR you would prefer a classier, quieter hotel, by all means, SL and Amistad are excellent choices, I heard Zona II is a good choice as well. But if you love being in the center of the action, the eye of the hurricane, slamming chairs against guys backs, getting in fistfights like you see in the old Westerns, being flung out of your second floor window, and surrounded by all the dance hall girls and having whiskey bottles broken over your skull like an old John Wayne movie, HDR is your kinda place....

Hey Netgem thanks for replying, I appreciate the info (thanks to everybody else too).

I wasn't sure if at HDR girls had a flat rate and it was just a matter of negotiating up front what you wanted to do or if they charged extra for anything other then sucking/phucking. For example, they will do GFE or let you bust on their tatas or whatever you want to do but its an extra $40 kinda deal... I know most girls are different for every guy depending on if they are into you, if they are having fun, if they're attracted to you or hell, even if they are in a good/bad mood.... but I was curious if they play the up charge game there.

Being new to CR and not speaking spanish i figured i'm better off at HDR for the ease, I know everybody has an opinion on that but I do plan on venturing out to MPs/clubs.

I love to drink and have a good time (not get belligerent and be an ass) , any bar I go to I make friends that why I was curious if the del rey had a good atmosphere. From what I gather its more so an older crowd then 20-30 year old crowd which im cool with, but I was curious if they would be stand offish or welcoming to a younger newbie

Thanks again, I will announce my trip once booked and this was f-ing hilarious:

Not a Newbie I just don't post much!

I posted in another section about a problem I had at the ML. I liked the hotel and wish I could stay there again, but I will never go back. Like you, I enjoyed the room and the workers and for the most part, they were great. After confirming the room # that I wanted one week before my stay, I arrived to Helmuth telling me the room was taken for the next month. Ok..no problem, so they gave me a different room. As I'm walking to the elevator, I hear Helmuth announce my room number over the intercom...kinda weird, but I just carried on. Next, I get to my room and unpack all my shit in the drawers etc. After about 30 minutes, I finish and go to brush my teeth...now is where it gets creepy. As I'm brushing my teeth, I hear a noise above my head (It's around 2pm at this time). As I look up, (the ceiling is a drop-down ceiling) I see the phucking ceiling being pulled up about 4 phucking inches. WTF??? I step back and try to figure out what the Phuck it is. I take 2 steps into the walkway outside the bathroom and ANOTHER phucking ceiling section lifts up about 5 inches...WTF??? I call Helmuth and he sends up security. While I'm waiting, I go back in the bathroom and the mother Phucker gets lifted up again!!!!!. Security arrives and tells me it's a phucking CAT.....lol. Obviously when I leave my room, I take all my money and valuables with me. Well, when I come back 3 hours later, I go to open my safe and the phucking number doesn't work. I call the office and they send up a guy with a key to open it. I ask him why it didn't work and he tells me he don't know. Well, when someone opens it with a key, it resets the system and you have to code it all over again. Someone obviously opened that safe when I left only to be disappointed. I carried all my shit with me the rest of my trip. Other than that, I love the hotel.

Stayed at HDR last week. The rate was $55 per night. Went to make reservations before I left for May--they told me rates have gone up to $65. Don't know if this makes a difference to anyone or not!!

All in good spirits , Bro Netgems. I was careful to hedge my bets by saying "might" and as he's 30, he could be that studly multiple-Chica guy you posited. Enjoyed your post and you made a good case--I was just presenting future alternatives (only a few come to CR just once).
