Hey all
Ill be making the journey to cr for the end of the year and start of the next year. I've been in the prelimanary stages of creating a basic itinerary for my trip. I have other excursions im shooting for in cr but will be partaking in some of the activities that the gulch/jaco provides. Been reading up and it seems I arrive during a dead zone. Was considering a room at the sportsmens and spending that first weekend in san jose(26-29) But from what I understand is that id be better off skipping that and continue on with the other excursions and book those rooms for next weekend instead. Next I was considering new years at cocal...but, again, seems like the action there won't be in full gear and the higher price for the room there might not be worth it. Though it seems like that once that 2nd weekend I'm there arrives, things should be getting back to normal. Interested in any comments or suggestions you guys can provide. Gracias!

Good news/bad news

The time from Dec 25 - Jan 1 is not ideal - not as bad as Easter Week - and a few days after New Years, things get back to normal.

Whenever you go its likely to be better than years back - so I would not cancel.

My advice is if you have other time period options - especially if you are new to CR - use them.

Yea, not a good time to go. If possible, I would look at another time.

If you're locked in, just make the best of it. Look, there will always be chicas available, but the quantity/variety will be much lower. Do some touristy crap the first week.

As for Jaco... it's not for everybody but should be checked out once. High season/low season very little difference in price. If you are worried about the extra $10/night for the room, maybe you should stay in San Jose.

You can still have a good time, but it's what you make of it.

I went once before at that time and I thought it was great. Good bargains and the real pros are at home with all the K*ds so you get the hungry ones.
