Hey fellow newbies!

Bashful posts a lot, tries to put up good information, helps out on the new google map, and has some experience under his belt, but please, Please, PLEASE ... don't think that he really knows anything more than the basics.

In the past couple of months (as more newbies find the site) he has been (jokingly) called in public forum: 'da man', 'grand master', ' BB junior' and things like 'the dwarf leads' ... and I assume because his post count is decently high to assume that he knows his way around the monger world.

Instead, take a look at his 'join date'. He's less than 12 months in ... he's only made 5 trips ... and in complete honesty, he has spent more time on his toilet than in San Jose.

Do not confuse board activity with experience. It's embarrassing to be called these things when the other guys reading the comments really *ARE* 'da men' and 'grand masters'. Currently, Bashful Dwarf does not sit among them, so just refer to him as 'The Dwarf': it makes him more comfortable.

As any of his wingmen will be quick to tell you: "Don't follow Bashful! He's no idea what he's doing!".

Jus' sayin' !

I'd like to be the 1st one to chime in on this one. Bashful...I think you're selling yourself short. And I mean this sincerely.

When you first joined CRT, you took your 1st trip to CR - and then you started posting on the board, literally balls to the wall. Some of that said "advice" you gave to other newbies was... shall we say.... a little reckless. And for some reason, it rubbed me the wrong way. I'm sure you can remember, I came down on you pretty hard in the beginning, trying to bring you down a notch or two.

Fast forward one year and 5 trips later. Since then, you've gained a lot of 1st-hand knowledge of the scene, and your contributions over the past few months have been very informative to newbies and certainly an asset to CRT.

Unfortunately, for various reasons, many of the "old-school" CRT'ers from 8-10+ years ago have either passed away or moved on to other things in their lives, and a handful of the newer members have picked up the ball and ran with it, you being one of them.

For numerous reasons, I don't post much anymore, but I still do a daily "drive-by" on CRT when I have a free moment. I've enjoyed reading your posts and IMHO, whether you like it or not, you are becoming (have become) the new go-to guy for lots of the newer guys that are just coming on to the scene. In other words... keep doin' whatcher doin'.

And if I can offer one small tid-bit of advice here, it would be - stay away from that BangBang guy. :P He's a crazy sum-bitch. :o And for chrissakes... if he offers to show you pics on his camera? Run!!!

Pura vida a todos,
Mucho Gusto

too late. I'm blind in one eye now! And the nightmares!!! They ... Never ... END ...!

I just want a bit of perspective. If other new guys come in and see that "Bashful Dwarf" is a 'Grand Master', then even if spoken in jest previously, the new guys buy into it.

On my last trip, I finally *just* got introduced to the strip clubs. That's a phuckin' NEW newbie! But, now I know. :)

It is always a pleasure to see the "grand Master" MG posting. When he speaks about anything, especially CR, it is wise that I listen.

I don't know if I qualify as one of the "Old School CRT's" or not, but I still read CRT daily. I do not post much anymore because I do not travel to CR often. This year I have spent two weeks in Asia. I am spending a week in MDE at the first of July, and then either Rio or Germany in the fall. I still have great feelings about my travels to CR, and will show up again.

IMO, what you wrote is more about who you are in life, than posting on CRT. Let yourself bask in the glow on occasion, even if it is for a short moment. What I see in others, is what I see in myself. If I do it, and live it, it is not bragging. Of course I could be wrong. I was at least once, and got married.

Keep up the good work and tell the ladies at Le Grillion I love them, and if you session there make sure they are on the bottom.

Health & happiness........

+1 on MG's post...very well said and I am in total agreement. Thanks for everything you've done and are doing to help out the new guys as well as all the effort you've put in doing so!

I have enjoyed the Dwarfs posts, whether it's a TR or for current information (the new map). Newbie or not, it's the quality of the posts that, in my opinion, contributes to the board and not the number of posts.

I'll step out and nominate the Dwarf for Prez of the Costa Rica Doesn't Suck Club....all those in favor....

Pura vida a todos,
Mucho Gusto

Whats you mean bro :?: :? :P  Hell every time I see you the first thing you ask is do I have any new pics and can you see them?

In all seriousness, BD has been and I think(hope) will continue to be, an asset and valuable contributor for the past year. If nothing else he has many times asked thought provoking questions and brought up subjects for discussion that have caused a lot of valuable info to be posted. He has learned far more in a year than many learn in a life time! How?? By asking the right questions and not accepting just one answer but rather asking several people and taking the best of the responses, then trying them out in real time on the ground. he has made mistakes--who of us hasn't :?:  But he has learned from those mistakes and unlike many, he seldom if ever repeats the same mistake!! He has taken an interest in CRT and in helping it to return to what it use to be and towards that end he has asked a lot of thought provoking questions, sometimes I think as much to create more discussion than to actually get an answer for himself.

I remember his first trip and I remember how star struck and amassed he was. Yes he was the typical "K*D in a candy store", but unlike many he managed to (somewhat) control his emotions and did not go wild (at least not totally so!!  His biggest problem has been that he is an "easy target"  for the local police and seems to continually rub them the wrong way!! He has had more problems in 5 short trips than I have had in 20 years. And I have never seen him on the streets in shorts, flip flops, and loud shirt-hell do they even make shorts that short :?:  :P On him shorts ARE long pants!!!

No he may not know as much about mongering and/or mongering in Costa Rica as many of the old guys, but he has befriended and quizzed several of the "old timers"!!! But damn, his choice of "Old timers" to learn from SOME TIMES leaves something to be desired!!! I mean just me would be bad enough, but then you add Phoenix Rising and Netgems to the mix and the poor guys is a hopelessly lost sole    :P Thank God he had the sense to ask others also!!!!

I had been wanting to do a new and improved map for a long time, but I do not have the computer smarts to do it alone. Without his valuable knowledge, help, and time, the new Google map would still be just a dream. Sure I knew where the places are, but he is the one who designed and put it all together. We all owe him lot of gratitude for the time and effort he put into getting the map up and going.

No he may not be a "Grand Master" (yet), but he is a "Grand Asset" to CRT!!! Keep up the good work my friend!!!

Hear hear! I agree with the praise THE dwarf is getting. But watch out Dwarf, for the inevitable backlash after so much praise.

Yeah ... I'll phuck up a post sometime real soon and have Heller and Gusto all over me again!

Wasn't actually looking to crank up a praise page ... sheesh! Ya think I'd gone and humped myself to death! ...! I got a phukin obituary thread here ...

"What a nice guy. Now plant him! and let's get back to the Del Rey!".

Just wanted to cease and desist the titles and stuff.

Important to note: all the shyt I know, all the knowledge, all the 'wisdom' ... someone else on the board passed it on to me. I have yet to post something truly genuine, and I think THAT, as a challenge, is a defining thing.
