I am not a newbie, I have been to CR many times. I have not been in a while though and there are plenty of new places not on the map and a lot of old places on the map that are now closed. Can someone who is capable of editing this please do so.

Bashful Dwarf and I are working on a (up-dated) Google map but I am involved in a couple of other things right now and do not have a lot of time. Will post it ASAP.

Just as a general comment, in the venue(s) we are discussing here, its common for places to come and go, change locations, ownership, girls, cliental, and so forth.

Todays hot place is tomorrows dud (don't take my word for it; the guys who owned the Beatle Bar in Jaco know exactly what I'm talking about    :) )

While I think its a great idea to update the map, I've never found previous versions particularly easy to navigate, and will tell you the best way to go is walk there with a guy who is knowledgeable about the place - one hint - if the map has places like "Arte and Sauna" or the "Park Hotel" (old long closed well loved places for 20++ years ago - you have an outdated version!

the plan BB is talking about is to create interactive google maps that can be updated easily, and viewed on smartphones, and easily printed.
We're staying away from rating different places, as that is strictly 'IMHO' data. Locations, hours, prices are what the maps should host.
Google maps only supports 3 layers, so individual maps for MPs, food and shopping will be created. I had to cancel my Halloween trip, where I was going to geo-code the current maps. That will have to wait now until December ... if I can make that trip.

any progress on this?
I ran in to a bunch of CR newbies this past week who got confused that mona lisa wasnt on the list and HLH still was...

as an aside, it also made it difficult when the newbies and I jumped into a cab from relax and the the taxi driver brought us to some restaurant named Davincis? that had a big sign of a Mona Lisa when we clearly said MONA LISA HOTEL...
good thing i was there to tell the river "no!!! in barrio Amon!!!"

they still had a good time and were experienced mongerers so they adjusted quickly...

Real Life flared up on me ... I will focus this weekend on entering the stuff into the maps, and then BB will have a proofing pass. He'll post when it's complete.

I feel like I've got 5 different maps downloaded from different sources all ranging from ancient to prehistoric.. an update would be really welcomed.

If anyone has a blank template of the SJO map, I'm sure we could crowd source the effort too if it would help.

I just finished adding all of the 40+ MPs located in San Jose to the map that Bashful Dwarf and I are working on. There are more in the outlying areas that I will try to get added ASAP. I have pictures of the fronts of almost all of the MPs but am not sure if they can be added to the map-may have to list the MPs with the picture separately. The technical ins and outs of this I do not understand so am leaving that up to BD and he has been a little "under the weather" recently. Hopefully we can post what we have ready now or in the next 2-3 days.

I've been dragging my ass getting this done. I will review the work so far, and finish the data import this week. BB will review it, and then he will post a link to it.

Things have changed a bit since we collected, so he will have to update the data I enter in.

once released, there will be a rush security patch, followed by two or three bug-fixing patches, followed immediately by at least one additional security patch to fix the issues from the bug-fixing patch.

We are using the Microsoft Model. We hope you understand.

PS: Monger Map 2014 will be released on December 31, 2014 at 11:58pm PDT.

Gents -

The map has been updated! I had to redraw the whole thing by hand (well, using Adobe Illustrator) but it was extremely time consuming. BUT, worth it because it is now EASILY updatable.

Please take a look at the new map and let me know any mistakes, updates or changes you guys notice.

Enjoy! https://costaricaticas.com/vip-maps/
