I just returned from my first trip to Costa Rica. I stayed at the Del Rey and it was awesome. My only complaints are the room was not very nice and the guest fee. I like playing poker and have seen the Mona Lisa mentioned. The rooms look very nice and it sounds like the poker room is busier than the Del Rey. So my questions are how is the poker room and is there a good selection of "guests" available and is their a guest charge. The ladies at the Rey were awesome, does the ML compare? Also where is the ML is it near the the Del Rey? Im going to CR march 1 thru 10 and would like to find some wingmen. Are there any other recom for hotels in the gulch area? |

Poker at ML should be a better mix of players. Less caballos than they have playing at Del Rey! Rooms at ML are much better in my opinion. No guest fee for girls at ML. If I only had to chose between DR and ML I would in less than 0.0000001 seconds chose ML. There are girls at ML but not near the quantity of what you see at DR or KL.... Only true way to spans wet it for yourself is to book your next trip and this time give ML a try. |

This Thread referenced is from today, backing up what Bro CRGolfer says 100% (though read about the ML casino). Rule of thumb for newbies: "fish" at the Del Rey, stay at one of Our Crowd's hotels. That's where paid membership can pay big dividends--in the discounts. Pays for itself in 1 trip. End of ad. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=44912 << see clickthru to ML's site. |

Rusty, the girls are not tied down to the Del Rey or any single hotel. You can take them anywhere they are comfortable, just make sure they know in advance where you are taking them. I have a favorite who won't go to the Dunn Inn, also Bill at the Lodge has some on his banned list. There are a few short term motels near the Del Rey as well. |

Here's a part of a thread that talks about just this: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=44056&p=503639&hilit=motels#p503639 and then there's the Motel Eden: http://www.costaricadatabase.com/crdb/h ... =10&q=1227 << somebody correct me if I'm mistaken but "motel" in SJO and most likely throughout Latin America means ST hot-sheet places. Usually very discreet and often upscale so Latin men can keep that part of their lives away from their wives. The bizname appearing in their CC address is also innocuous, the equivalent of The Potawatamie Trading Co. or some such. Quite fun with the right Chica or two (one-night-stand or a special treat for somebody longer term--could even be some fantasy fun for that Gringa you brought down for a civilian tour))--much better furnished than the place you're staying and you're not crapping where you live. Win-win. Be an interesting poll question for the Chicas--Which one's your favorite and why? |

Jazzbro.... all i said was LESS Caballos! There are still plenty of Caballos at any casino in Costa Rica, especially in low to medium stakes no limit holdem. Mona Lisa actually has many more full time grinders trying to make a living playing poker, or at least they think they are. If you can't spot the donkey at the table in the first 30 minutes of playing it is probably because you are not looking into a mirror! |
