I completely agree. If you can get past the posturing and antics, there is a lot of information to be gathered by polling the older post threads. One of the dangers though is that some of the information is out of date. So it is always a good idea to check the relevancy of the answers with the current membership. Newbies should try jumping to a random page in the forums and just read whatever is there. Interesting stuff to be found. |

I'm bragging on myself a bit but got my start here going through old Threads and bringing back some from the early days (I did this to those I thought had current relevance [i.e not talking about venues that burned down or closed] in '08-10). It was a bit of a pain but I made sure to test every link mentioned and showing the live ones from the dead. No mention of people (how would I know?), just places and things. Point being, if somebody has mentioned something, it's easy as pie to PM that guy or others talking about the same thing. As was said, our attitudes towards each other can and have changed but we have a pretty low level of A*holes here and don't tolerate them well. We all just want to get it wet, right? |
