Post subject:  Best area of San Jose to hook up with non pros?
I'm 23 and good looking. I only speak a little bit of spanish. I was wondering where I should hang out in San Jose to meet young (18ish) non or semi pros. I plan on visiting the DR at least one night, but I am also hoping to get some free local action.

In San Pedro just south of the U of CR, which is close to the gulch, is Calle de la Amargura (Bitterness). Four-blocks of bars and restaurants, packed late on Friday and Saturday nights with students and girls.

Go get em.

Great suggestions - been there and its a great place - if you are 23 :lol:

Why is this question always asked by real newbi's, normally w/in the first or second post.

Although this guy would seem to have a better shot than the normal questioner (You know, the droopy balls, sandal wearing, fishing shirt and shorts wearing old Phucker that looks tailor made for the Delrey)

To the OP:

Difficult if you don't speak Spanish, but not impossible if you have game (sorry, inside joke :lol: ) - also, you have to consider what you are in Costa Rica for - if your handle is to be believed (and what did you do - consult with Anthony Weiner a/k/a Carlos Danger to come up with it :lol: :lol: ), its for sex with working girls - which is lots easier and less hassle - contrary to what you have heard, Costa Rica is not one giant whorehouse, and decent girls are the same the world over - why waste what is likely a vacation when so much availability is there for the taking - plus, many girls who are not pro's are not interested in being a booty call for some horny guy when he's down for a week - OTOH, give it a shot - the place Gersen recommended, as well as some nightclubs (Castro's) should also be on your list - but don't be surprised if all you end up with is blue balls :wink:

you might want to consider also that she is not likely to come back to the SL, HLH etc. w you.
and if you don't understand spanish very well you have no idea what she is saying to her friends.
you could be chill as Phuck and think she's digging on you and suddenly find yourself in way over your head in a strange city.

I will agree with the San Pedro visit if you are looking to just hang out and try to get on young women. I spent most of my first 5 or 6 years chillin there. Like Scuba said, if you have game, you can try, but I suggest finding a wing that can speak Spanish. Calle Amagura does ok in the afternoons as well if the weather is nice. Of course with a handle like yours, I'm thinkin stickin to the gulch is your best bet. Happy hunting. 8)

Thanks for the reply's everyone. People keep commenting on the handle... it doesn't signify anything (it just rhymes).

The calle near the university sounds like a good spot. What about el pueblo? I've read about that a few times.

El Pueblo is cool. It is a late night place and you will come across working non working and all in between. If you are really into going out, you can hit some clubs in Escazu and Santa Ana. There are places all over if you have time to go.

Speaking some Spanish is a good thing but that and knowing how to dance Latin is even better. Learn a little--the pros at the Blue Marlin can surely help with the practice.

This is actually my first post on this site. I have been living in CR for 4 years and had no idea that CRT existed.

Anyhow, by the wording of your post, you will be pegged instantly as a vacationing player. That is not always a bad thing. If you are a good looking 23 with skills, there are girls looking for that. El Pueblo, San Pedro, downtown, etc. are full of girls looking for gringos doing a touch and go in Costa Rica. I call these "weekend pros". They love to make regular guys feel like they have something real going -- sometimes just to get a good lay.

The real "real" girls are walking back and forth to school and work in Pavas, Cartago, San Ramon, etc. You don't have to speak Spanish but you should be making a valiant effort to do so. You don't have to pay for sex but you will have to subsidize her time with you, when she is not working to buy the rice her family needs to eat. These are a good, hard-working people, despite the sob stories you hear outside Del Rey.
