No! I'm not talking weapons. Are satchels typical on the streets (or do they announce a gringo)? What does the proper, modern monger use to cart about his 'stuff' in, while visiting MPs and the such? Does he just stuff half a dozen wrappers in his pocket and call himself 'prepared!'? Or is he laden down with a backpack full of camping supplies, including a fondue pot? ![]() ...mmmm.. fondue! |

Travel light when you can A bag is just one more thing to keep track of... here one minute gone the next! A back pack or a grocery bag are what I use if need be... As a test bring a cheap umbrella and see how fast it is gone A couple of skins ID and the money you plan to loose ![]() Admin 3 note the helpful post ![]() |

Yeah I have to agree with Hank here. Travelling lightly is your best bet. If you do need to carry say mongering tools for MPs and such I suggest a backpack. You will look like any other random tourist. Plus, Ticos carry backpacks and satchels and that kind of thing. If you see me when you are here, I usually come rolling in the Lodge carrying a backpack..... the DR <-------Back to OG'n it after a bit....... ![]() |

I wouldn't even carry a backpack. When I walked through San Jose, I wore cargo trousers, and tucked away my cash, copy of my passport, and anything else I needed in the various pockets. |

Tear gas mandatory. Try it out at home first so you know the range. They're only 2 oz so buy two on ebay, 1 for practice. Obviously wind is your main consideration if you have the time to consider it. Perfectly legal in CR. And a switch blade, also legal. Carry them w/ quick access in mind. Paranoid? Yes. Ever needed either? Once, in Jaco. Crack is epidemic in CR compounded by stark poverty, or vice versa. Better safe then phucked up. |

Doesn't matter what you carry, it won't make you blend in. Your white ass marks you as a tourist from a mile away. What stuff are you referring to? All you need is your wallet (money, passport copy) and a condom. |

he must have vibrators, attachments and an industrial size tube of lube. j/k but in all seriousness anything you don't need don't take. having a bag of any sort probably draws the wrong attention. then again if you are taking a taxi door to door you are fine w whatever. i use a messenger bag when i fly for books, ipod, passport, candy, pens, etc. but i wouldn't walk w it in san jose. or anywhere else really. it comes in handy for traveling. in six years i haven't had anything stolen thankfully but depending on the area i'm in i don't even wear my watch. cash belt if you need to carry a lot, condoms in pocket, and stay sober as possible. |

Just the usual and customaries: family pack of condoms, 64oz lube tube, barbeque apron, bicycle pump, reading materials, family photos, fishing line, wood glue, breath mints, oh ... and George. |
