Hello Gentlemen. I have been looking to expand my mongering horizons and I am planning on a trip to San Jose. I want to put a rough idea of my itinerary and planned budget and see if I am in or out of line. I am not a VIP member yet but I will sign up soon, I just need to get this trip signed off on by the jerk offs above my pay grade. Flight: Departure on June 27 from Newark to SJO (nonstop) Return on July 3 SJO to Newark (nonstop) Should I stay through Fourth of July? I know it is not the USA but I figure with a lot of expats in the country it might be worth staying through. Lodging: I am planning on staying at the Sportsmen's Lodge. I was originally thinking of staying at the Del Rey but many reviews on this site have made me change my mind about that. I am looking for advice on which type of room at the SL I should book. Prices seem to swing a bit wildly depending on the "wing" you are booking. Entertainment: Outside of that I am thinking $300 a day for ticas and incidentals should see me through. Is this enough or too much? I will probably pick up a Del Rey girl or two during my trip but I will be looking at visiting the Gulch as well. Speaking of which, I have heard of the "Gringo Gulch" but none of the threads I have seen in the newbie section actually spell out where it is. I will need to spend most of my arrival day doing some touristy BS because I need to have pictures to show family and co-workers of all the things I saw in San Jose. So I might go to the volcanoes or museums but outside of that I am looking to enjoy my time with as many girls as I can. Where do you recommend I go? I am looking not to leave the San Jose area. Thank you very much for all of your input. Ricin |

Zip Line and volcano tours are great diversions Is there info for those tours so I can plan those expenses in advance? Also the "Gringo Gulch" made it sound like it was a complex or street where there is nothing but massage parlors or brothels. Thank you for the info. Ricin |

Too much dis-respect there.) ![]() If you found the SL through this website then I'd sign up for VIP status to get the discount on food and lodging. |

Gringo Gulch is just a a nickname for the area where most of the hotels mentioned in this site are located. Most hotels are located in Barrio Amon which is a nice quiet older historic neighborhood. Most monger hotels and massage parlors are within 10 minute walk. It is a very comfortable area to stay. You are going to enjoy yourself. |

Gringo Gulch is most of the downtown area near sportsmans. I agree with going to an MP first thing. But NF would possibly be my last choice. HLH had the best talent on my last trip in June. Relax is good too. Be adventurous and bust the nuisance nut on 6th street for next to nothing. Sent from my SAMSUNG using Tapatalk 2 |

Go to Google maps of San Jose. The area between Calle 3 and Calle 11 and Ave. Central and Ave 11 is the place where most of the hotels and massage parlors the gringos go to are located in. Get a VIP membership to get discounted rate at SL. You can book tours after you arrive. That way you are not stuck with an out door tour on a rainy day. You can book the day before you want to go. Book hotel as soon as you can. |

If you spring for the CRT membership, you get 10% discount on your room, food and bar tabs at SL. You also get access to the CRT maps with all points of interest marked. Welcome, and hope you encounter many ticas, and also colombianas, dominicanas, venezolanas, nicas, and chicas from other countries. Mh |

I just returend from CR after a five year absence, and stayed at the SL. Hopefully I will get around to a TR this weekend. IMO, CR has changed greatly in the past five years. First join CRT if for nothing else the discount. If you want to stay at the SL I would book it now, or you may not have a choice. The SL, especially on holidays books months in advance. The rooms range from the clubhouse, an area kind of off by itself that are O.K., and has a sitting area. The Courtyard, most people find "noisy" before 11:30 PM, and hearing the clitter clatter of heels on the tile at all hours. The Modern Wing (the only rooms I have personally stayed in) that are very nice about $100 per night with CRT discount. The new Mansion wing that are the "cream of the crop". You can look at the costs on their web-site. I was just there for six nights, stayed in the modern wing, ate most of my meals there, and bought plenty of drinks. My tab was just under $1,000.00. The ladies were extra. If you choose, you can find several wingmen at the SL. I would say if you do not dance, to take a few lessons now, or let your hair down and just do it. No one is really looking at you anyway, unless you can really shake that thing, then they all look. I cannot tell you how many women attached themselves to me dirty dancing. My whole trip was women shaking their bodies at me (dancing), and laughing. I was asked several times to go out with ladies to clubs to dance, but the only ones I took up on were in la cama. It was very interesting being a fat, old fart. Even in the room they would want to dance while dis-robing. Health & happiness to all............. |

I will make sure not to use the term tica in Costa Rica, I assumed it was common parlance on this board for chica. I will look into the 5-in-1 tour. I will probably do the walking tour then, I can bring my camera and take pictures of the city and archetechture. I assume I can get that at the hotel. I will be putting my time off request in at work on Monday and I hope to have it back and approved ASAP. I am going to get my VIP card as soon as my job approves my time off. Then it will be sending reservation requests to the SL or HLH, I have gotten some messages from members saying HLH might be a better option for me. I am looking into it. I was planning on hitting up an MP once I got all my gear locked up in the room and go off to play. Speaking of which, are New Fantasy, Relax or HLH near SL? I am still planning to stay at SL but I am weighing my options. Ricin |

Maybe some wisdom in just hanging out in SJ. July isn't the rainiest month of their winter but it's going to rain some or alot, probably every day. Alot to learn and girls to do and you're planning on only a week, and two of those are travel days, and time really, really flies in CR! The 4th is just another day there. The Embassy used to throw a bash attended by few but I think they quit that last year. So the only issue with the 4th would be how much more are you going to pay to fly on a holiday week-end--the 4th is a Thursday this year--maybe not a factor since you can get a non a non-stop, lucky boy, most of us can't. |
