Post subject:  How do they treat non-white mongers in the Gulch?
Do the girls and the people living there treat non-white mongers any differently than white tourists? I'm Asian and I was just wondering what to expect when I get there.

as long as your wallet has green its all the same. but i think most girls view the chinos as good customers. thats what they call all asians.

You will find Asian guys are highly desirable here among working girls. Was with a group of three 'chinos' a few days ago and girls were all over them. Even saw my 'most flaca dream girl' and she turns me down then begs me to talk to my friends cause she just 'loves' chinos. She ended up alone as they all thought she was 'too flaca'. :lol:

couple of bartenders at HLH ( Daisy & Ilona ) are from the Philippines.Sweet as can be and is a great source of intel about the girls that work there.

Not really true. I know many chicas will not go with black guys. Also, I have witnessed first hand cabbies not pick up black guys. Racism is present in Costa Rica too.

I have seen racism here just like any other country. I think is shows less in P4P since it is a service industry, but I will say this, women don't seem to have too much of a problem with chinos. Especially Mexi-chinos!!!!!!

It's not going to be a problem, Asm. The gulch has far to many available women. Those that are put off by your ethnicity will avoid you while those who aren't will be happy to session with you. If a chica isn't down for the Asian persuasion, then that's her money lost. Fortunately, there will be so many girls in your face your not even gonna care for the 0.01% that are prejudiced.

Have you ever been to the "country" of Memphis, TN? This is where the USA's racism vault is located. They keep it there to distribute as needed. You din't believe there is racism in the USA look there! :):) there is enough to go around!

I highly recommend The Ticos by Biesanz, Biesanz and Biesanz, published by Rienner (1999) and doubtless available at 7th Street Books. In it they talk about racism against Afro-Caribbeans in CR (pp 113-6). Startling fact: it took until 1949 that Black Ticos allowed to move at all freely about their own country. This kinda gutted them when United Fruit moved to the Pacific coast in the 1930's.

This is quite a statement, especially if you consider the history of racism in the United States and how to this day we continue to have racially / ethnically motivated crimes and incidents in this country.

I'd be interested in hearing the opinion of our non-Caucasian brothers on this topic.

Have had the privilege of hanging out with a number of different ethnic groups here in CR including people of Asian, African, and Indian decent and I haven't found much racism. Closest I came was a Filipino guy who looked almost Nicaraguan. Seemed to get the cold shoulder until he opened his mouth and they knew he was an American then it was all good with every girl he spoke with. Tico vs. Nica racism is alive and well....trust.

Asian and Indian guys seem to have an advantage in the 'exotic' category in looks as they are on average younger and/or fitter than your NWM (normal white monger). Or, perhaps as a group, the are viewed as treating the girls better or are more generous than your NWM, I don't know. I've just seen too many examples of girls asking me (a NWM) to say good things to my friends because they like their race... Might be something similar to how certain guys like Latinas or Asians or the blonde/blue Eastern European beauties.

In my experiences with gentlemen of African decent, I've heard few stories of a girl turning them down outright...but it has happened. Many in Costa Rica are prejudice towards people of African decent but it seems to be more social/economical in that the lower class, which face the facts many of these girls are, do not have that prejudice as they are more likely to accept others within their social/economic 'circle' here in CR, perhaps living in closer proximity and seeing the color of the skin doesn't make any difference. Conversely, I have seen girls that really liked African descended men. Won't mention names, but there are at least two at HLH right now that have had black boyfriends from Limon at one point or another.

Outside those rare girls with rare tastes (like the girl that refused me DATY the other night but really wanted me to hook her up with my Asian freinds :roll: ), the racism isn't an important factor here and more often than not will work in a guys favor as it is different than the average monger that walks through the door of Del Rey. Think the shape, cleanliness and overall attitude is a lot farther ahead in their minds than color of the skin.

Do keep in mind, use of race may be a selling factor for these girls then the real feelings are no where to be found. The girl that knows if she just gushes all over a guy because of his race may boost his ego enough he selects her. There is ALWAYS an angle one way or the other...

As for any worries anyone of any color has about finding plenty of girls in Costa Rica...put it out of your mind. You will have a great time with any number of Latina beauties! But one final word, bald guys seem to do best of all, no matter the race :lol:
