I am 25 days away from a week at SL. Thanks to this forum I already understand how much I will need chasing tail. I plan on leaving the gulch a few times for pics to share with family of a "normal" vacation, stuff like the coffee plantation tour and Basillica tour as well as a museum or two. What am I looking at for my average daily expenses? Stuff like Prices of drinks, average meal cost, etc... What is a good amount to bring for a fun filled 7 day trip in total for everything except airfare and hotel? I guess I am asking what the average monger would bring for the week.

I also plan on 200-250,this may be high, But I rather have to much vs coming up short--
break it down on where you going to spend funds. HLH, Mp or bar pick up, thats 40-50 vs 100,How many rounds are you going to go in a day? 1 vs two-- a combination of HLH/MP- bar ? , good meal maybe 25-- then your drinking habits.. no matter where I travel for this I use home prices to budget, again high but safe, and remember all the your ladies you are goign to be buying for   but don't carry it all with you, use the safe, only have what you are going to spend right then

as for your sight seeing trip, get 2--3-4 trips in one-- take a few extra shirts with you and change at each different stop . Grab a few different people to be in the photo with you each time and in one day you can have a photo gallery that looks like several days

Thank you Xman. The tourist picture idea is awesome and a real time and money saver. As for the rest if I understand it correctly, $1500 would give me a good week and $2000 would make for a great week and $2500 would put me in the hospital with exhaustion! Now I just have to wait it out and keep reading the forums again.

I said I am always high, better to have to much then not enough.. There are a couple of things that affect how you spend,

1) How often you fall in love.Add more.
2) K*d the candy shop ADD a lot more.
3) Getting worn out ( ever think you get worn out for sex in USA?? you can here ) subtract some--
4) the new Friends you meet here with new things to do , add or subtract some.
5) Pure stupidity add a hell of a lot more
6) And then there is always the involuntary donations you may make by not being smart..add some to a lot.

I am cash type, in that I take a cash amount I can spend, set aside the taxi to the airport ( buy your exist visa first thing when you arrive) and if I got none left so be it... I carry a CC in case I need more.
maybe I go to far, but once at the hotel I even divide my funds into daily piles( in the safe of course), so I can pace myself and number 7-- not locking the safe add every thing for spent

There are ways to budget yourself. I always make a trip to the pensions On calle 6 to check out the
talent. Perhaps find a diamond in the rough for $14. It is two doors down from pension liliam. Also there
is a small tico cafe with good food very inexpensive run by a chica named Angie. I recommend traveling there only in the mornings and return out of that area before it gets late. I found some ofthe chicas to be very goodlooking, friendly and good providers. You will see some ugly ones at liliam but I just walk in to see whos working. Also I am a strong supporter of traveling on the bus lines. I have traveled all over
Costa Rica and Nicaragua with no problems. $5 to the beach from San Jose is hard to beat. I stress do watch out for your belongings, but like I said I have not had any problems. The people have always
been very friendly. Staying at the HLH is also a way to conserve money on Chicas. The Independents are the ones where your negotiating skills ccome into play. I figure it costs me about $8 an hour for the company of a chica with unlimited sessions. That because most of them are GFE chicas. They like to be treated like a girlfriend, dining and sightseeing and travel. It takes a while to really develop a relationship to where they will stay for days with giving them a little money for her family and a few trinkets. So you see there are ways to save money and get a good time.

Excellent thread and question. I'm making my first trip in September so obviously this is something I don't know for sure and have pondered myself. Of course plenty of variables in play that can easily change.

I'm trying to keep my adventure with budget in mind but, at the same time realizing its a vacation and I'm going to attempt having as good of a time as I can. Also, considering the travel costs involved to get to CR... Might as well enjoy yourself the best you can.

I'll be in town for 6 days/5 nights and am budgeting as follows:

Modern Wing Room @ SL (with green season promotion @ 20% off) about $80/night = $400 (give or take)
Food and Drinks: $100/day = $500 (thinking this is a high figure but better high then low)
Chica funds/fun money: $250/day = $1000 (also high but see above)
To/From transportation for airport: $50 (both ways)
Exit Tax: $28
Duty Free/SIM card/misc supplies: $100
Covers/Taxi around town: $75 (total guesstimate on this one)

So that works out to about $2153 (ok shouldn't be counting) and I'll try to allow for some overages and hopefully I'm not really forgetting anything.

Anything major I'm leaving out or should reconsider? Im hoping to have the kind of time that will make me weep when it's time to leave. :-)

YMMV

I just did 6 days and 5 nights for around $1500 total (room at HLH was $264, cash is king buy 4 get 5th free, cheapest room) other $1240 was spent on girls (pulled a threesome one night from SL and pulled a couple from the DR in addition to HLH girls for $35 if your staying there), food (some cheap meals, some expensive), booze, taxis etc...

This does not include the flight.

again YMMV.

I usually average about $120-150 per day. But like others have said, YMWV. I'm not one to have three rounds a day that often these days. Most trips I "wife" up with a favorita for 4 or 5 days and only go trying new girls 3 or 4 days. Some days I'll hit the HLH for an afternoon session then hit the HDR and KL late in the evening to go fishing.

Some things you can try to save cash is to stock up your room with food and booze when you arrive. At the airport, you can buy up to 10 bottles of liquor at duty free in the baggage area and be able to take it with you into San Jose. That's a huge savings. A 40 of Bacardi White was only like $10 last time I was there. And there's a Walmart (Mas X Menos) just a couple of blocks SE from the HDR where you can buy all sorts of food/snacks/booze.

I also tend not to hit the bars until pretty late... after 10:00pm most nights. Go too early and you'll just spend more on booze, get drunk, spend more on women... etc. LOL. A good Costa Rican day for me is breakfast at the hotel, maybe some reading or surfing in the morning over coffee, then a walk around town ending at the HLH for a few beers and a 30 min session with one the girls, then back to the hotel for an afternoon siesta, awake in time for a nice dinner somewhere and finally doing the stroll to the SL, HDR and KL.

Once you get to know the place a little bit and maybe get to know a favorita or two, you can start venturing out of the gulch, where it's a whole lot cheaper. I've had nights at some places in other areas of San Jose where I spent less then $40 on tapas (local snacks/finger foods), booze for 3 or 4 people and taxi. All depends on your comfort level.
