I though i would ask all expert's about what I should bring on my first trip. Let me know if i need to get anything else. All of my money will be in $20 crisp bills and about a $200 in singles and fives. (no tears or stamps) Obviously packing rubber and lube (KY). Sun Screen lotion, bug spray gym shoes formal shoes. Got a Copy of my passport and ID made before hand. Got bunch of snacks and will probably hit up local stores to get bottle water. Got my laptop, camera and cell phone(unlocked will have to check and see if it works in CR). Let me know if there is any other essential's i m forgetting. Obviously i got all my hygienic equipment as well so dont be like "dont forget to shave ur balls" already did  Let me know if there is anything else is should get? We are SOOOOO HYPED to land in few days and party it up. Thanks in advance also we will be in SJ March 22nd-25th any one wanna meet me up PM ME and lets do this damn thang

Some guys like to bring trinkets from the Dollar Store for the girls. Sometimes Victoria's Secret has sales on stuff (lotions) that the girls like.

Gifts sometimes help to set the mood and can also offset the request for propina at a favorable cost.

RAC is correcto. Purchase some panties (small of course) and lip gloss from Victoria secrets. The chicas love VS stuff and it goes a long way for very little dinero.

Bug spray? Are you going to be on the coasts or only in San Jose. You don't need bug spray if staying in SJ with an occasional day trip outside of town.

Bills What are you going to do with all those 1's and 5's? Are you planning on tipping all the bums outside of Del Re  Bring larger bills. I'm not sure who first advised to bring small bills but it's not necessary. I usually bring all 100's and 50's a few 20's in case I need to buy something at the airport, they may not have change. As long as the 100's don't start with CB and the 50's don't start with AB, you'll have no problems. For tipe for maids, one red ¢1,000 bill and some coins is fine. They prefer colones anyway.

Other than that looks good.

Didn't wanna bring big bills because of the counter bills issues. 1's and 5's will be easier to use during restaurants and cabs and drinks because we don't want to open any tabs on our credit cards. Bug spray because we will be in Jaco for zip lining, atv riding and some outdoor adventures.

Nope, you are much better off using colones for this purpose. That way you won't have to deal with a) refusal to accept dollars b) exchange rate issues c) figuring out if your change is right.

As the late lamented Neil Rogers (a south FL talk show host for 35+ years) would say "Absolutely correct, sir!"

A small however:

It makes sense to have a small supply of 1's and 5's - b/c if you run low/out of colonies they are useful vs larger bills - and the girls don't mind dollars - if all you have is large bills, you might overpay - just my dos colonies  :P

The tap water is OK in San Jose, but if you prefer bottled water, it is available. Bring more money than you planned on, or a card suitable for ATMS. And bring lots of stamina, you'll need it.

Actually, you are correct - while its nice to see Bho' has given the trip some thought, best advice is take less clothes and more money (but don't forget the bug spray - critical    :P  ) - don't over think the trip b/c it never goes acording to plan.

And Bho' - I like you - I really do :) - I'd bet your a great guy - in fact I'd like to see you as we are both in CR at the same time and I'll assist as much as I can - but you and I both know your gonna Phuck up something - we both knew it when your first post - knowing nothing about mongering, or Costa Rica, and you wanted to know girls names and numbers to make a Phuck movie - C'mon admit it - you wanted names of girls that would play snake charmer to your cobra    :P :P   :)

I know, some guys disagree, and its your/their money, but I'd be damned if I'm going to bring gifts - especially from Victoria's Secret - just not my thing; from a shopping, packing, et al - and if you are so inclined to bring thongs or undewhere - I'd bring a few pairs in some of the larger sizes, if you take my point - not every girl is skinney. But I'm told the girls LOVE bug spray :P  :P

Leave the bug spray at home, you're gonna get laughed at. :P

Pay for everything in Colones, except hotel bill, canopy/atv tour, and departure tax. Rule of thumb is to pay in the currency the price is quoted in. This way you avoid an unfavorable exchange rate. Exchange half the money at the airport bank (not currency exchange downstairs by baggage claim) and then keep the rest for the above. If you run out of colones, you can always exchange more dollars at your hotel. The commission will be no more than about 3-4%.
