Post subject:  First trip to Costa Rica, some questions.

I'll be visiting Costa Rica for the first time over the summer. Most of the trip will include hiking volcanoes and nice beach hotels, but I plan on maybe a stop in Jaco for a day or two. I chose Jaco over San Jose for a few reason. First, it will be slightly closer to where I will already be, and secondly, it seems to be a bit safer for someone traveling on their own then San Jose (I could be wrong about this, its just the general impression I got from reading around on the internet.

I am not huge into partying and the only reason I will be going to the Beatle Bar will be to find a nice Tica for some pay for play action. What is the scene like at the Beatle Bar? If it depends on the season, I will in CR during the green season (late July/ early August). I ask this because footage, and that of any quality, seems a bit sparse on the internet, I'd like to know what to expect, I've never mongered before (except once in thai land, when I didn't know she was a working girl, caused a big scene in the hotel room. I paid her, but it shattered my image of myself as sexy tourist with class A game :P) but in a perfect world it would be nice for it to be a very business like deal. I'm just looking for action, nothing else.

I'm hoping its not too "clubby". In a perfect world it would just be guys chilling, drinking beers, and picking up chicas when one catches an eye. Either way, its not a big deal.

Also, I will be in Playa Hermosa as well as Playa del Coco for a bit. I've searched the board and, from what little discussion there is about these two places, it doesn't look good for P4P action. I read a post stating that there are a few working girls in/around the Casino but if anyone can help clarify this it would be appreciated.

I'm a young guy (22) so I hope that doesn't give me any problems.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for the newbie threads, they have given me some valuable information.

Jaco is the only place that has consistent P4P. Walk into the Beatle Bar and every female in there is a hooker. You don't have to worry about confusing pros and non-pros. They will ask for $100-150/hr. You may have trouble finding one that goes for less than $100 ("Cien"- Spanish for hundred). If you can't lower the price, try to get the most bang for your buck, ask for more time (2 hours or 90 minutes instead of 1 hour), uncovered bj, or anal.

If you are young, clean/groomed, and in shape, you will have an easier time. Do you think a girl would prefer to go with a 55 year old fat guy or a 22 y/o. Obviously, if the old guy pays more, she won't care what he looks like.

If all you want is a quick, business-like, impersonal Phuck, that will be no problem. That's standard procedure for most of them. It's getting a girlfriend experience takes some work.

I don't know if this will help since you are going mostly for eco shit, but maybe read it anyway: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=16357

Diacort, like the diarrhea medication?

And thanks, I have read that. It was long so I will admit that there are a few things that are probably not ready for retrieval from my memory banks.

100-150, damn man. Even in low season? Oh well I guess I'll just have to use my negotiation skills. I was hoping for around $70-$80. My ten day stay in costa Rica is already raking up some major coin Haha. (Off topic, but flying from the north to Costa Rica is damn expensive).

Can anyone comment on the atmosphere of the Beatle Bar?

Also, I read a post stating that the Beatle Bar Hotel, although close, has no overnight security. Is this true? I don't mind paying more for one of the nicer hotels that are frequently suggested when I seach Jaco, I only considered the BBH because of its proximity.

Just a little preparation. There are a few "captain save-a-hoes" on this board who take offense to anyone that discusses working girls as "Tica(s)". They are going to come in and try to explain to you that not all Ticas are working girls.

Kind of like basic algebra, If some Ticas are Prostitutes, are all Prostitutes Ticas ? The answer is no. A Costa Rican prostitute is in fact a Tica. A Nicaraguan prostitute working in Costa Rica is a Chica. All prostitutes are Chicas as well, well except a few , those are trannys.

They have a petition going to change the name of this board to CostaRicaChicas.

Beetle Bar atmosphere... You enter through the very personal and friendly security pat-down but no more cover charge. The girls are along the walls, most sitting on stools or talking to friends that are. You walk around the central bar with girls on the outside walls, lots of times the entire way to the rear area where there are tables. Worst thing is it is so dark hard to get a good look at them. Music is loud but not so loud you can't talk although can get difficult. Guys usually around the bar and at some tables with some of the girls walking around. As for atmosphere, I got nothing but 'all business' from the place...

Guilty (except for the CostaRicaChica bit :) ) Yes, it's a pet peeve of mine. Kudos to the quoted poster for explaining it soooo clearly - a TICA is a woman of Costa Rican nationality. A hooker born in Costa Rica is indeed a Tica. So is a female doctor, dentist, government official, cook, accountant, executive, housewife, waitress, driver or attorney.

As one of those who points out the proper usage of the word "tica" I should observe we're trying to be Captain Save-A-BRO.

Just like we advise first-timers not to walk around drunk at night in San Jose (or Jaco) with dollars falling out of their pockets. Or never pay up front. Or not to leave a working girl unattended in your room with your safe open. Or to get Diacort if you have an attack of the trots.

It's unfortunate to see a fellow monger get into an altercation with locals over a misunderstanding - his continued use of "tica" as a synonym for "prostitute". It's happened more than once.

You've taken the time and trouble to do your homework about Costa Rica and the mongering scene. Why cause yourself potential grief out of ignorance? Using "tica" for "hooker" also marks you as a n00b. Or a rude, condescending asshat.

mh

P.S. Did you look into the Copacabana Hotel? Right around the corner from BB. Warning - it is NOT a quiet place, but some of the working girls stay there.

As mentioned above, the Beatle Bar working girls are a bit more hard-core and businesslike than, say, the Sportsmens' Lodge regulars, and it's not easy to get them to budge from "cien". The same woman might charge you 60 at the HDR (many SJO girls work Jaco on the weekends during high season). It helps if you speak Spanish.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Is the supply of ladies fairly constant all year around?

I know I'll be there in low season so I hope it doesn't matter.

From all accounts from CR veterans, action is best during US holiday weekends like Memorial Day (more part-timers come out to meet the increased demand) and worst during the weeks of Easter and Christmas. I'm told Halloween and Super Bowl weekends are also peak times.

A local begs to differ: "Best" is non-USA holidays. On US holidays the putas come out but so do the gringos with deep wallets. Chicas attitude takes a plunge as they all think it is big dumb gringo payday.

For finding plenty of available girls with the right attitude, try the wet season most any time but mid-week especially. The girls are here full time but the Los Suenos deep-pocket guys show during the winter and on US holidays (and the weekends to a lessor degree).
