Hi guys. I'm new, coming down for a week in march. I will come down on a Wednesday night and stay for a week, Mostly business, but time for a little pleasure at night and on the weekend.

I was thinking about renting a 4x4 and heading for the beach for the weekend and bringing some sand. Maybe Puerto Viejo. I haven't had a vacation in two years and could use a little quiet time con chica.

Three questions:

1) That's not alot of time for sand shopping. Any suggestions on how to shop faster?
2)I'm not looking for completely dead, just mostly dead. Just how dead is PV?
3) What % of Chiciticas will consider a WE at the beach?

TIA

You will probably find a chica willing to do a roadtrip with you, but without much time to know her, you are taking a risk. She may turn out to be a PIA ... or a thief. You will need a back-up plan what to do with her if things don't turn out as you had hoped. A bus ticket back to SJ will usually do the trick

Puerto Viejo is far from dead. I love it there, but I usually take company as there is no p4p down there to speak of. It has a Caribbean beach laid-back type of personality, but at night, PV becomes a party place. There are a lot of younger back-packers and surfer types from all over the world who hang there. You will find plenty of cute women, too... but most of them will be tourists. Occasionally, you may bump into ticas from other parts of CR, but most of the locals are English-speaking blacks of Jamaican descent.

If getting laid is high on your agenda, go to Jaco. It's a crappy beach, and nowhere as nice as PV, but at least it has p4p.

I wouldn't begin to know what percentage of chicas are willing and able to make a roadtrip. Most would love a paid vacation, but logistics (eg childcare) always enters into the equation. They may look for extra Colones to pay their "childcare provider." You should agree on a daily rate, and be prepared to pick up her costs for food, drink and lodging... plus any other incidental costs like tours.

Road trips with virtual strangers are always fraught with peril--an exit strategy should be part of your planning. Remember in hotel shopping to check on an in-room safe or front-desk safe. The fact that Chicas don't get paid til the end should constrain their more lurid ambitions.
I agree that Jaco might be a better choice but if PV is the place, try our friend Colins' place:

Thanks. Banana Azul is booked. I will look elsewhere.

Viejo beach sounds nicer.

Maybe sticking with a well reviewed tica will help.

Will reconsider sand 2 beach as 54 doesn't go into 18 that many times anyway. ;-)

You should only invite chicas for a road trip that you have test driven for at least a couple of hours in SJ first, otherwise you are asking (begging) for trouble.

definitely don't ask chicas with K*ds on a road trip. They will use that one to be calling places all weekend.

+1. I agree with Orange here.

With more than 60+ trips to CR over the past 8 years, I always spend some time in SJO, and I always go to the beach on the weekends, due to business obligations. And the lion's share of my beach trips have been con chica. I'm pretty sure that I've probably done more weekends at the beach with chica's than anyone on this site. And because of this, I can attest - that it's always better to know them beforehand before taking them to the beach. And even then, it's still a crap shoot. But you never know.

Hell... this past weekend, I met a nice Colombiana on Thursday night, spent a fantastic night with her, and invited her to meet me at the beach the next day. I already had my airplane ticket to fly over there, but she had to get a bus ticket the next morning. I walked her downstairs from my room at La Amistad at 4:45 in the morning to get her a taxi home. 7 hours later, she was on the bus heading to the beach to meet me. And she paid for her own bus ticket!!! Although I did reimburse her! And to my surprise, it turned out to be a phenomenal weekend from every angle!!!!

Like I said - ya just never know! IMO, when it comes to taking a chica to the beach for a weekend, it's always good to "hope for the best, but plan for the worst". If you do this, you're prepared for any problems, and if it turns out to be a nice chica, it's a pleasant surprise. But for me, I don't like to "hope" for a good time. I prefer to just bring the party with me, wherever I go! By doing this, you make your own good time and don't wait for it to come to you! Ultimately, it's may be a business transaction, but regardless - I like to treat the chica's well, and remove any doubts from their head that it's going to be a long-boring-business-as-usual weekend for them. They know (on the front end) that it's gonna be a good time for all. And if you treat them right, they always tend to return the favor!!!

Buena Suerte,
MG

If you are taking a chica to Puerto Viejo, make sure she is a legal resident of Costa Rica. There is a passport/cedula checkpoint on the way back between Cahuita and Limon.

Brother Baqueta makes an excellent point I'd not seen mentioned before. Even if this is just a temporary LEO operation, why take a chance?

Guess it's what ya look for. I have played with very few chicas with K*ds down here. If they are lying they have no reason with me, and have gone to extremes to hide it. I like the fun girls with no obligations and no problems. Also, let her no in clear terms that she will be put on a bus and sent back immediately for bad behavior. Just try to get as much as possible out of the short term you have for interviews. Stay sober, listen carefully to what she says and how she looks at you while you are talking. It is still a crap shoot, but this should help you to figure out if it would be a fun person to spend a few days with. The "fun" girls are out there, just takes a bit more hunting time. :D

Thanks all. I had been thinking about bringing a mean illegal one eyed librarian grandmother on the road, but I already tried that in BsAs and it wasn't as much fun as I thought.

:P :P :P :P :P :P

Seriously, thanks for the tips. I'll hang out W and Th and see what happens. If nothing pops up I'll hang with the sloths.

Anyone interested in helping me shop I'll be looking at DR and SL W-TH unless other locations are suggested.
