When I will be traving down to San Jose in about a month, I will not be able to bring any condoms with me. Where is a good place to get them in the gulch area? Are they behind the counter or can you pick your own? Thanks

Yes they are behind the counter at most convenient stores. AM/PM is 100 feet from the Del Rey. They sell a 6 pack of Durex Ultra Sensitive that works fine. If you are embarrassed to ask for them then that is part of the problem and after 5 days in CR, that should be cured.

Yes you can pick your own at the Mas x Menus , a supermarket 5 minute walk from the Del Rey. There they have the same Durex at the impulse stands at each register.

No Do not rely on the ones supplied by the Massage Parlous as they are thicker than an inner tube. And do not rely on the ones supplied by the independent girls as they usually don't have them.

I knew I would get a reaction out of someone :)

The HIV/AIDS scare is one of the biggest scams ever perpetrated against the world. Billions of dollars and total change in the sexual behavior of a nation. The disease never crossed into the general population from its primary risk groups. According to the CDC, 97% of HIV/AIDS cases occur in the following high risk groupss: homosexual males, intravenous drug users, hemophiliacs and drug transfusion patients.

Unfortunately, everyone has bought into the hype and now it is virtually impossible to have normal intercourse (outside of marriage). It is pounded into the younger generations from the time they can read. Its tough to even get a blow job without a condom. Sex without a condom is 10X better than wearing the raincoat. CONDOMS SUCK!!!!!!!

quoted from an online source:
According to a report by researchers Norman Hearst and Stephen Hulley in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the odds of a heterosexual becoming infected with AIDS after one episode of penile-vaginal intercourse without a condom are one in 5 million (excluding high risk groups- see above). With a condom it's even safer--one in 50 million. Just to put this in perspective, the chances of someone in your family getting injured next year in a bubble bath are 1 in 1.3 million (source: The Odds on Virtually Everything, Heron House, 1980). You're in much greater danger of being struck by lightning (1 in 600,000), having your house bombed (1 in 290,000), or being murdered (1 in 11,000).

I do not know where you got your 97% figure because that is not what I find on the CDC website. But whatever the number it's your life and your decision so do as you want.

From the CDC website. 2008 figures are the most current ones listed there.

Transmission Category Estimated Number of Diagnoses of HIV Infection, 2008

Male-to-male sexual contact 22,469
Injection drug use 4,110
Male-to-male sexual contact and injection drug use 1,141
Heterosexual contact 13,180 = 32.1%
Other 187

ID,
I stick by my data. There is a plethora of statistics on AIDS and they can be bent to any argument. But the fact remains that outside of the core high risk groups, chances are very low of contracting HIV through heterosexual sex. Not impossible, just very, very low.

HIV/AIDS has historically (and is) been a homosexual disease in the developed world. However, it is a threat to heterosexual people in some ethic groups and in some very poor and scummy places like Africa and the Caribbean, where rapes and Ch*ld sex trading is common. Homosexual male-to-male anal sex causes tearing of tissue and creates a pathway for infection. Semen from an infected man can filter into these microscopic tears and contact the blood vessels in another man's rectum. Vaginas are perfectly designed for sex including lubrication, buttholes are not.

You can stick to your "data" but until you can show some verification it is not data but rather a number that you put down.

There well may be "a plethora of statistics on AIDS and they can be bent to any argument" however you were the one who made reference to the CDC so evidently you believe their statistics have some validity. I just researched and used the source you felt were a legitimate source of valid data.

Once again I say it is your life take what chances with it you are comfortable with.

Just curious, by "reaction" do you think that my response is one of surprise or unusual for a some what educated person in this day in age? Or did you only intend to make this a joke. My assumption is the prior. So here are my questions for you.

If this is so, I have more of a reaction, No, I have surprise by the follow up comments that seem to solely revolve around HIV. Albeit, a horrific and potentially fatal disease, but what about the dozens of other STD’s??????? Do none of these pose any concern for you? Is not the pond we are swimming in “High Risk”

What about the life changing consequences of an unplanned pregnancy? Are you willing to do the "right thing" if that happens, just because it feels better for the 10 minutes you are in the sack? Would you make/ask her to get an illegal abortion? Would you pay for it? Would you accept the complications for her if they came up?

What about the potential for a black mail scam by one of these honeys. Would your life not be affected at least until she “Lost” the baby. Or if she was previously pregnant by another, that you could get the test results?

Of course it feels better to not use a condom. It also feels good when you stop pounding your head against the wall.

To continue this topic is to try and explain why playing Russian Roulette with five chambers full is a bad idea?

I wish you great luck in your future endeavors, but my mind/gut tells me you are playing with a deck that is stacked against you. And ignoring it seems a bit distasteful/disrespectful to you and the lucky young ladies you are with.

Going South,
By reaction, I mean to provoke discussion and challenge some common beliefs. You apparently have bought into the hype and will, no doubt, never change your mind.

Do I always attempt to have unprotected sex? NO. Do I prefer natural sex, Yes! Its depends on the circumstance and the girl.

Let's face it, we are all involved in a high risk activity by traveling to another country and picking up prostitutes. Its all a matter of degree. For the common man, this is quite risky behavior. Some men climb mountains, dive out of airplanes. Others, live tranquil, boring and predictable lives. They end up in nursing homes with dementia and slobber dripping out of their mouths. What's it for you?
