Greetings Cabrons. I stumbled across this site about a week ago and have spent countless hours reading through the forum and laughing away at everyones stories. I was browsing the internet to get a heads up of what to expect in Costa Rica, what to bring, and what to do. That is how i stumbled across this jackpot of a website. I am 22 yrs old just graduated university and became TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) certified. I just accepted a job teaching buisness English in San Jose beginning in mid Jan. This job is my golden ticket to living in Costa Rica which has been a dream of mine for about 2 years. I always dreamed of getting to Costa Rica for the perfect weather, the surf, and the women. But i didnt even know that prostitution was legal in Costa Rica until about a month ago, it was not one of the reasons i decided on trying to find a job in Costa Rica. This job has a 6 months minimum contract and after 6 months i can go back to the states or choose to stay. I have never been to Costa Rica and have never mongered or paid for sex. I consider myself fairly handsome and fluent in Spanish since i have studied it for years. I was just wondering if my teacher status will help or hurt my chances with the locals preferably non-working chicas. I was browsing the internet checking out the situation on if the ladies in Costa Rica like Americans or how they view them. Most forums i read were saying the chicas love Americans and will grab them up in no time. Until i came across this website and i got a more "real" picture which seems to me that the women will do what ever they can to get at your money. This site has shown me to be weary, see past the lies and be ready to have women fall in love with you just for the purpose of milking your $ dry. I was hoping to come down to San Jose to find myself a nice chica but now i dont think there are any according to everyone on this site even the nice posh looking girls are down to make a dollar from sex. On the other hand learning from all you pros i was thinking if there would be a chance to talk myself into free sex with a semi-pro girl/ working girl since i can call them on bullshit because i will speak fully in Spanish and i already know what lies to watch out for. Anyways i was wondering if it would hurt or improve my chances if i tell the ladies down there that i am there not to monger but to actually live and work in their country. If they see the real reasons i am down there to appreciate latin culture and actually practice the language (play the good guy part) will that help? Or will it hurt because they will find out i am not loaded with cash and am simple barely surviving down there off of a teacher salary. Has anyone met any people in my similar situation down there? Anyone friends with any English teachers who have scored some university chicas and not had to pay anything? Thanks again for all the tips to prepare me for my move. Keep the hilarious stories rolling. I am sure some of you CRT will meet me in the future when i move down there in Jan. |

First off, welcome to the forum... Secondly, this is a mongering forum, so do not apply the same standards to all women that you garner from the cross-section of humanity you find here as many, myself included, have no desire for a LTR and prefer the "pay as you go" plan as it is easier than trying to maintain a relationship with a woman and keep her happy... Thirdly, women the world over are all alike... You turn them all upside down and they all look alike... Well, with the exception of LBFM's... They all want security, which in this day and age means $$$... Yes, poor women from 3rd world countries do see the gringo as a ticket to a better life, so choose wisely... Forth, you should do very well with the local, non-P4P chicas if you are young, not plucking ugly and fluent in Espanol... If you want to delve into the world of P4P, then the rules learned from this site apply... With a fresh TEFL certificate under your belt, if I were you, I would work your 6 months contract in CR, then explore other areas of the world while you are young... Thailand, Korea, China, Japan all have thriving ESL programs that need qualified teachers who are native English speakers... Soak it up as life is not a dress rehearsal... |

If you want to make a little money on the side you might want to work this from another angle. You have a lot of ex-pats that have relocated and need help learning Espanol. Teach Espanol to newly moved mongers. They can also pass on to you their experience in Costa Rica and the do's and dont's for a new monger. Both benefit. You are already a step up on most being fluent in Espanol. I think with the girls, both pros and semi-pros and normal chicas that I wouldn't let them know how fluent you really are at first. Kind of stumble your way through and you might be surprised what they will say to other girls in front of you thinking you don't understand. Good way to determine their real intentions. Best of luck in your new adventure. |

On this forum one frequently reads of the girls who are trouble, ripoffs, scam artists, over charging, thiefs, gold diggers, etc, etc. There is omnipresent fear of crime and the never ending diatribe on how morally corrupt these people are. The emphasis tends to exaggerate the negative. What is less apparent, is how crazy fun and sexy these girls can be. It seems like Ticos love to party. None of your experiences in the USA will compare to the first time you hit the Del Rey. The women in general dress more sexy, are very approachable. Even in every day street transactions, the general population seem more engaging. This may be true since we are different and stand out we are still a curiosity. Nevertheless, it is a welcome and comfortable atmosphere for American guys. Its is a big reason why there are 20,000+ members of this forum. I think you are gonna love it down there. I know I do. |

El Jefe, All I can say is that you are still very young and it sounds like you are just starting a good career with a lot of possibilities to meet new people and travel the world. Just because you've stumbled on to this site and seen how some of us are mongering it up in CR doesn't mean you have to fall into that lifestyle. Believe me... getting lost in the gulch can warp your perceptions of women in general. And the lifestyle can be as addicting as any booze or drugs. And if you ever find yourself wanting to have a wife and K*ds in the future, the baggage you pick up here can follow you down that road and hurt any future relationships you might have. In my own case, I started coming here after my wife passed away. I was perfectly happy married and with 3 lovely step Ch*ldren. But after she died, I felt pretty sure I was never going to find a women like that again and I hated getting back into the whole "dating game"... so this situation in CR suits me fine for this period in my life. When I was your age though, I had just started working in aviation and I traveled a lot and had some great relationships before I met my wife... including one 2 year affair with a really cute Japanases girl I met in Kyoto (while visiting my cousin who was in the ESL program there incidentally ![]() It's perfectly fine to test the waters though. Sow your wild oats, sort to speak ![]() |

Go and meet regular girls. Have fun. You could always teach a working girl some English. There are a whole bunch of bars around the University. A good place to meet most of us is the Sportsmans Lounge. There are many Latin American countries to see. Dean |

These Brothers' wise words will steer you right. One thing--teach in CR for the 6-month contract then do another 6 months in Colombia. You will meet Colombianas in CR but they from all reports are nothing like the sweet women you will meet in Cali or other Colombian cities--they are a bit hardened here. Also maybe try Panama City and/or Lima, Peru. You may never want to leave Latin America. The world is truly your oyster. |
