The variety of hard liquor is pretty decent for the tiny little shop you'll be in. There is Hennessy. I've understood there are 2 of the shops, but I've only found one myself....it's on the far side of the baggage claim area, next to the Scotia Bank ATM machine. Rums, whiskeys, gins, etc. are all there. Suggestion: Go there while waiting for your bag rather than after you get your bag, unless you don't mind waiting for the duffus in front of you who is "shopping". It's liquor....jeesssshhhh..... Good Luck ![]() Dave45 wrote: In regard duty free shops you guys claim to be @ airport in Costa Rica...what type of liqz i'll b able to get in there?....i don't want this 2 sound like a stupid question but their variety might differ so just asking for opinion...preferably looking for Hennessy LOL....please provide any info so i have a clue if i should get it here b4 i go or down there?....

The other Duty Free is in the departure area and thus may not be readily available to arriving passengers. Due to space limitations, they only have top-shelf goods and run specials all the time, including Ron Centenario. Incidentally, does anybody know any other country that has a duty-free available to arriving passengers? I think CR is unique in this but that's just a guess. BTW, Chicas love Bailey's Irish Cream--consider picking up a jug of that too. Just a thought... |

Brother Dave45--If you want rum, are you ever in luck! The best Ron Centenario (CR rum) stands with the best but look for Flor de Cana 18 Nicaraguan rum (they have FdC 23 but the price differential just isn't worth it). It's about 1/3 the US price and is a genuine no-ice sipping rum, Another tip: see if they have the Chivas Regal 3-packs in a good back-pack. Drink one here, take 2 home and give the back-pack to a favorita for her k1ds for school. Such a deal! Especially if you have to watch your sugar intake ( Scotch alone among liquors has virtually none). |

I have bought in the Duty Free shops on the concourse, arrival, and been allowed to bring it in. There is a lot better selection there. There are at least three shops on the concourse. The will let you buy much more than the U.S. will allow you to bring in 5,6,8 bottles. I don't know the limit. |
