OK so this is going to be my first trip ever outside the states, and plan on staying in CR for about two weeks. It is is going to be two of us going down there and hope to have blast.

Little about me. I am 23, born in el salvador, so I am a native speaker. Came to USA when I was 3-4 and pretty much grew up gringo. I am hoping the my Spanish will come in handy in getting a true taste of CR.

I plan on stay my first night in SJ (all hotels to be determined) then heading out to Arenal and MA for outdoor fun... atving... fishing.... rafting... I really want to mingle with the locals, so if anyone have any recommendations...

All that should take about 8-9 days. Then going to goback to SJ to really check out the city. Not sure if I'll take a girl back my room but do definitively wants to sees the girls. Seems like SL and DR seems to be the most popoular places. Where would be a good place to meet non working ticas? Is SL in a good area also be able to explore the city?

Thanks
sorry for any errors. My nexus is acting up

In SJO, visit El Pueblo entertainment complex. That place roars especially on weekends. Lotta reggaeton but there's other music-type venues as well. Search" Tobagon" here for a huge Tico dancehall (mentioned in the Link below). And on the pro side, Key Largo always has live music.
For daytrips, check Brother Prolijo's posts--he's written extensively here and on http://www.tripadvisor.com
