Which websites do you guys use for airfare? I am getting ready to plan my return trip in May and want to get the best deal on airfare. Are there any sites that will let you know when the prices drop? What are your experinces on how far out the best time to book a flight is? Thanks fellas |

Here's some sites that have been previously posted: I like matrix, it searches multiple airlines a 30 day window. http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch www.kayak.com www.sidestep.com www.farecompare.com www.travelope.com www.qixo.com http://www.mobissimo.com http://quickfares.bestfares.com/quickfa ... quickfares http://www.zuji.com.hk/web/content/hk/index.html http://farechase.yahoo.com/ www.farecast.com www.travelzoo.com https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=29310 https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13127 |

I like the flexible search options on http://www.orbitz.com. I also use many of the searches that Paco listed. I also have fare alerts in place from FareCompare and others. But when it comes to actually booking my flights I usually go directly to the airline's website. |

I like ITA matrix ( http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch ) because they not only give you the fares for all carriers they give you the fare construction so you can give it to the airline res agent if they can't find that fare. |

It's always a good idea to check directly with the airlines' websites before purchasing. I have read that many airlines, sometimes save their best fares, for exclusive use on their own websites. Personally, I have experienced this in the past. ![]() |

I usually only book with Cathay Pacific, and have found that the airlines website has ALWAYS been cheaper then any site. Often the sites will have the fare listed as 1200-1300-1400$ and when I check the site Im able to find it for under 1000$! *This is for making my Asia trip bookings of course. But solidifies the point that airlines often have their best prices on their websites |

I have found the best deals on Travelocity. They have flexible dates again for international fares. Which ever sight you use try the flexible date search. I guess it also depends where you are going. I have always got the best rates to CR on Travelocity. Through domestic airlines. But when going to Asia I find that the Asian airlines websites are cheaper than Travelocity. China is normally the cheapest but I like Cathay Pacific a lot better. If they are with in $100 or so I will fly Cathay. I have only book one flight to Thailand through a online agent. All of my other flights have been direct on the airlines websight. |

www.atiflights.com or www.bookit.com The best two sites if have found for international flights, always way cheaper than kayak. You are limited in the flights to take but they are always a great deal. Round trip LAX to SJO $370 and thats booking a flight for this weekend. CHECK IT OUT!! |

Be careful about using these or any other sights, some quote with all taxes and fees like Kayak.com and others do not, making them appear less expensive. Always read the fine print. |

I usually use http://www.johnnyjet.com/home.asp. Not just for air travel, but a little of everything. |

http://www.vayama.com Web site really works well, but best be certain of your travel dates due to fees associated with any changing...... |

Trip advisor has just added a flight section that seems to give good flight comparison data. www.tripadvisor.com |

To help you sort out which sites do a better job overall, check my post in this link: www.costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=29122 NOTE: This link is 6-months old but I don't believe that much has changed. I don't know that any of these sites search or quote the ultra-low discount carriers like my fave Spirit Air--I could be wrong but none of the one's I scanned did. |
