Post subject:  Newbie saying hello and getting ready for initial trip

Hey all,

I just finished getting out of a serious relationship a few months ago and am looking to start enjoying myself once again (hence the screen name). What better way than a virgin trip (first of many to come) to Costa Rica? I am planning on going all out on this trip as a treat to myself and think SuperBowl weekend is only appropriate. I am guessing a bunch of you gentlemen will be in the gulch during Superbowl weekend so it is probably the best weekend to meet some of you, drink some beers, watch football and get laid.

I am 26, and spent most of my life in S. Florida (went to U of Miami) before moving away for work so I should have a lot in common with some of you as it seems there are a lot of S. Florida guys on here. More importantly, I am nearly fluent in Spanish and as a result can definitely make a good wingman.

I definitely want to stay at the Sportsmen's Lodge but am worried they are probably already booked for SB weekend. What do you guys think? If there is nothing available there, I think I will go with La Amistad.

There will be a few of us around for SB weekend that's for sure. Look for a post in the roll call section in a few weeks  8)

As a cruise through the Hotels Forum will show, there's other good choices--Hotel Dunn Inn, Freebird, El Castillo and Clarion Amon Plaza (especially if you're a paid CRT VIP and book thru Nixon at the Casino).
Yeah, SB weekend is a real sausagefest but, hey, there's plenty of Chicas to go around. As you're younger and have Spanish (and presumably SOME game), other venues for non-pros/ semi-pros ("Ay, Papi, I'm just trying to make the rent!") abound. Search the Forums for details. Depending on what music you like and what dancing skills you have, a "can't-lose" proposition. No, I'm not envious--you have to endure the next 50 years, whereas I'll have maybe 15 in retirement.

We had the best of everything--you get the leftovers.

Don't take too long. Sportsmens' has been 100% booked for Superbowl weekend for a few weeks now. Get on the waiting list in case there's a cancellation, and try to get a room at one of the other venues listed in this thread.

Ouch, didn't realize SL was completely booked already. I will call Hotel La Amistad tomorrow and see if anything is available. The only thing that concerns me is that I have read they have a one guest at a time policy and I am hoping to bring two girls back to the room at least once. It seems like it is lightly enforced but my only concern is that I am not a regular and they may object.

Brother Reset, don't worry about the three ways and stuff, concentrate on getting a good room at the SL or Dunn or Amistad etc...you can have plenty of cluster phucks at the many MP's or even rent an extra room for a day or two at some Tico Hotel for around 15 bucks a day or visit the Love/Drive In motel if your choice balks at more than one little darling at a time.

ps- stay away from the Hotel Presidente

What he said--the consensus is that El Prez hasn't been on our radar screens for awhile--they seem not to want us and there's plenty of venues that do appreciate our business. So it goes.

ResetButton – you can email Matt of La Amistad for verification but there should not be any issue bringing 2 girls in. Just remember that La Amistad is not like the Sportmens that is 100% monger clients. It is a more subtle atmosphere and the way we like it at La Amistad. I saw many mongers bringing in 2-3 girls without any issue.

Resett, We allow two girls if you are interested in staying at the Dunn Inn.
Let me know if you want a quote.

Thanks J0sie. I completed an online reservation form for Hotel La Amistad and made sure to mention I was a CRT VIP member. Fingers crossed on availability.

FYI, no more king beds available at La Amistad for Super Bowl weekend but I managed to reserve a penthouse room. The photos look really nice on the website and since I am treating myself I decided to go with a penthouse over a queen room as the photos online for the queen room don't look anywhere near as nice.

Reset!!! Welcome to the single worst move you've ever made during your young life! :!: Danger! :!:

Naw, I'm not talking about the Amistad. It's a wonderful hotel, newly remodeled and furnished, and yes...the penthouses are great!

I'm not talking about SB weekend, either.

No, the danger is this:

After your first taste of C.R. nightlife, you'll be totally fu*ked forever.

American girls, white, brown, black, golden...none of them will appeal to you anymore. You'll be regretting leaving before the wheels even lift off the tarmac at SJO for your return flight. You'll start obsessing over returning. You'll start checking flights on a daily basis. You'll even hang around CRT more.

Yep, once you take this step, nothing in your life (and I mean nothing) will feel the same as today. You will thank me for this warning, but of course you'll ignore it.

Have a great first trip. And BTW, we'll all be looking forward to your newbie trip report (definitely the most important one you'll write). :D

Buen viaje y buena suerte, 'chacho. Cuidate bien en C.R.

Saludos,

El Mujeriego Ciego (y nunca lo niego)
