Post subject: | Moving to CR.... |
Two years ago, I spent two weeks in Costa Rica...the best two weeks of my life. I am now in a unique position to move down there while telecommuting for my job. I plan to head down there November 1st. Start off in a hotel, and then find a place to rent. Most of the tips here are geared towards short-term visits. I am wondering what some of you would advise someone looking to stay 2-3 months there as a minimum. I have been there once so I like to think I have some understanding of Costa Rica, but I am also humble enough to know that there is a ton that I still don't know. |

Catch up with me, I made the same transition 4 years ago. Transition from the hotel to a monthly furnsihed place for at least three months or so. Avoid buying houses, cars etc until you are sure you want to stay where in CR. There are many furnsihed monthly places available. BKTUNA I am never going home |

There have been some posts in the "Living, Working..." Forum on just this subject. I've heard VistaLinda Apartamentos recommended but don't know the current situation. I'm sure there are others.Of course your most pressing needs would be: completely furnished, Chica-friendly and with a high-speed secure Internet connection. As the Brother said, ask via PM some of the Brothers living incountry. May I add I'm envious as hell about your situation. You go, guy! |

Two sentences, 21 words, and I learned at least 5 new things. 1. There's a hotel CA in Escazu. 2. We should not go there. 3. The owner may not be stable. 4. The owner carries a gun. 5. A guest has been shot by the owner. |

So much like the Eagles song, it's creepy--"You can check out but you can never leave (except in a body bag)" Which fortunately wasn't needed THIS TIME. |
