Also some FORUM Frequently asked questions:

Thought I'd add a few most commonly asked questions that come up recently. This needs a bump regardless. Also when I get time I will consolidate many of these questions to 1 FAQ

Q: My PM's are not going out they are stuck in my outbox

A: They will stay in your outbox until such time as they recipient reads them at which time they will appear as sent.

Q: I would like to change my screen name?

A: Since I have to change the screen name in several databases as well as reset passwords, One screen name change is allowed period! Also when choosing a screen name please take into account the following information.

1. You should not user your real name as it will show up when posting.

2. Google search bots crawl the site and all of the screen names are indexed. Don't use a screen name that your significant other might find. Its best to stay under the radar.

Q: For Personal reasons I want all my posts deleted?

A: Sorry no can do there is no simple way to accomplish this. If you don't want something on the board don't post it... Individual deletes are done on a case by case basis.

Q: My Screen name shows up when you do a google search, Can I delete all my posts or change my screen name.

A: Note See item #2 we can change your screen name 1 time but understand that all of your original posts will then turn to the new screen name. Normally that is a good solution.

Q: I can't access the forum and or the VIP lounge?

A: First and foremost USE THE LOST PASSWORD FEATURE!!!! If that doesn't work, check your caps lock and the username & passwords you may have stored when you attemp to logon. Often old passwords will override what you are typing in currently. Last but not least you may have used a different password when registering the forum and or the VIP section. They are Two separate databases use the lost password feature, and then and only then if you want them both to be the same email me at info@costaricaticas.com so I can make the changes.

Q: I registered but never receieved a board welcome activation email.

A: 99.9% of this is either a spam blocker or YOU ARE USING AOL see separate post regarding this. Also you may have typed the email address incorrectly so you will never receive it.

Q: I changed my password in the discussion forum now I can't get in.

A: First off you must hit the activation link after you request a new password, secondly if your using AOL see previous problems of not receiving the new activation link. Last but not least changing your password in the Forum DOES NOT Change your VIP Logon for the main areas of the site it ONLY Changes your forum password they are two separate databases.
These are just a few of the most commonly asked recent questions Newbies and VETS please take the time to go over these items.

THANK YOU!

This may be a dumb question but:

How do you highlight the quotes from others' posts to comment on them?

If I understand your question correctly you are asking how I highlighted your post. In the upper right hand corner of the post is a box that says quote. Just click on that and it will highlight the post in your reply. If you just want to highlight a portion of the post just delete what you do not want to highlight such as this example:

I hope that was your question

Instead of clicking POST REPLY at the top or bottom, click on the QUOTE button in the upper right corner of the member's post that you want to quote.

Then type your response one line below where his quote ends. Make sure you start typing the line after this tag: [/quote]

Orange,
This is the first time I've noticed the "quote" in the upper right hand corner... I've always manually typed in the poster's name...
Thanks Orange, and it was great to meet you at the SL Happy Hour last week... 8) 8) 8)

What about the chat function? When I log in, I only see myself... does anyone actually use it?

Indeed they do and with spirited convo sometimes. Click "Board index" above any Thread title, then scroll down to the bottom of the page, below the VIP Lounge section. Jump in any time.

Have been going to Pattaya for years and will be making my first trip to CR next summer. Can't wait as I have washed my hands of Thailand for good.
The FAQ for newbies posted by Orange was a plethora of great information and touched on all of the important details. Can't wait to eat my first piece of Costan Rican ass.
Cheers!

Curious as to why you washed your hands of Thailand?
