Post subject: | 2nd CR trip in the works - question about New Years holiday |
Greetings, Love this site! I discovered this site last this past Spring right before a week long vacation in Jaco with a buddy of mine. We're both avid travelers and needed to escape the Chicago winter. It was booked sorta last min so while we did some solid planning we didn't have any idea what were in store for. Best trip of my life thus far. Jaco was great. We had a nice blend of relaxation, adventure and chicas ![]() The only bad decision was we went during Easter week. I know, I know but we discovered the holiday issue after we booked. There were still lots of girls in Jaco but they started vacating a couple of days before the holiday. Anyway, my buddy and a couple other friends (who must experience it) are planning to go for New Years - from 12/27 to 1/3. On the first trip we just went right to the beach and didn't hit SJ. This time we are planning a couple nights in SJ and then to Jaco again. My question is - I know the country shuts down for Easter and X-mas but will it be back in full force by then - for New Years? Please say yes ![]() I've spent my first 35 New Years eve's in freezing cold Chicago and dying to change that trend. I can't think of a better place to celebrate! Thanks for reading! |

No, New Year's eve and day may be the 2nd worse holiday. It's a family holiday and things are pretty dead. |

If we spend 2 nights in SJ it would be 12/27 and 12/28. The off to the beach and NYE is Thurs the 31st. Then Sat 1/2 and Sun 1/3? I'm wondering of the whole week will be dead? Thanks |

Yes things will be OK but slower than usual those dates, the 31st night and 1st - forget it, line something up ahead of time. You could have shot a cannon down Ave. Central and not hit anything the last new years day I was in SJ ![]() |

Unless things have changed in the last few years, that is a bad week for going down cold expecting to meet new chicas. Guys do visit at that time but they usually have regulars they will be visiting. About a week before Christmas is the light up weekend when all working Ticos/Ticas get their bonus. San Jose becomes magical that weekend and everyone is in a serious party mood. |

Well, I have to decide. That's the perfect week timing wise with the holiday and long weekends. We plan to be in Jaco for 4 or 5 days - SJ first. Anyone have any idea if Jaco will be the same story? Thanks for the info. Very helpful. |

Twarag is pretty much spot on concerning San Jose. Can not speak as to Jaco. |
