Recently there has been some high spirited banter on various topics. I would like to single out the inference that CRT is cliquish in the regard that it doesn’t welcome newbies.

This could not be further from the truth .

Do cliques exist? Of course. But each member of this board remembers once being a newbie themselves. Over time these cliques or massive pre-parties came about thru fostering great friendships and even better times while in CR.

I want to make it crystal clear for all newbies reading this; (especially the real new newbie;) You will not be shunned or otherwise looked down upon or treated differently in any capacity just because “you aren’t part of a clique”.

Many of the CRT guys that I consider some of my closest friends would always welcome a new face in the crowed. All you gotta do is be normal; funny since I ask the same from chicas.

"Normal" in this sense just means the same way you socially interact with other friends in your home town. Much like any group dynamic; if you want to be welcomed, then you will.

One of my favorite things about CRT is thinking a newbie could travel solo to CR for the first time and have little worries because once he meets a CRT guy, the newbie could take solace in knowing someone had his back.

P.S. Steven1- no need for any juvenile responses. Despite your experiences in CR, it’s my contention that most guys would fit in and be quite welcomed. There’s enough negative threads in this newbie section and this is meant to reinforce what so many others know already.

I was hoping that I would be accpeted into the clique, until I read that you have to be normal!

sure....as long as the newbies who hang with you understand they ".... go to the back of the bus...."(can I say that here??? PC'ism reared it's pointed head a while back after I noted I was of Scottish origin....) pay for the rounds; and get the proverbial "sloppy seconds"?. Don't they also have to enroll iin your special school of "HOW TO SCORE WITH A PROSTITUTE: THE COMPLICATED WAY>>>>"???? ahhahahahahahah :P

It's all in good fun, brother man....you do your thing and I'll do mine....thank you....just make certain your little clique don't coock block me, please.....god forbid....there are so few to pick from.....I do own you boys pretty much control the SL....and put out lots of hate to the chicas on the boys you deem "...less than worthy....". *shrug* Well...anyway....that's the word on the street.....

Here's some fun.....be sure to have your speakers on.....

It's all in fun? It doesn't sound like it from your end. All your retarded pot shots are lame.

You are quite the quintessential tool and you prove it over and over. Your Scottish? Who the f*ck knew that anyway? Your "PC'ism" is self induced. Why would a Puerto Rican guy show racism to a Scottish guy?

Drop the mask and quit hiding behind obvious empty statements.

No worries on your other concerns either. I mean, let's be real...C*ck block you? That's hilarious...

I'm sure in life you C*ck block yourself

Ummm....I'm not sending out any sounds that I am aware of.....I am typing on a keyboard....it's like the guy who said some guys don't have "game"....they have "keyboard".....that's me....a guy with a keyboard..... :P

PS: You CANNOT say or write "retarded"....that's insulting and insensitive. Rather you must write or state "developmentally disabled". Get with the program, please. You're offending me....... :P

And there you have it, newbies. The above excahnge contains examples of several common Internet blog-haviors. See if you can find the following in the above five posts. There is a prize.

a.) Trolling

b.) Flaming

c.) Sarcasm

d.) Emoticons

e.) None of the above. This is the "Smack Talk" section, right? Oh wait... never mind, I'm a newbie.

Cujo, I hear your message but we do have to admit that sometimes the “group” of vets goes berserk and are wilder than a pack of homo’s on the last dick on earth. Specially annoying how may of the older vets keep hijacking productive threads and making it their own personal email threads. And to put a cherry on top many of them just keep agreeing to every dumb idea or suggestion of their “internal group”. IMHO - It does come across as a queer thing.

From my insertion to the board I have had my in and outs with many of the vets. Sometimes I agree but if I do not agree, I’ll let them know. I figure I paid the membership just like everyone else and entitled to my opinion just like everyone else. I try to keep my discussions above board and not to get personal at any time. I have met many of the board members and some are cool and some are just AO’s. My personal opinion, of course, but that information is for me only and I keep that to myself. But the way some of the “internal group” goes about sometimes talking about each other even though you guys have met for a night is a little too homo for some of us to stand. Not trying to flame just giving you another look from the other side. I do respect everyone but maybe a better way is to send that other member an email or phone call and you guys can share your personal experiences. I’m not talking about TR’s or contributing to the board but those personal experiences that only mean something to the both of them or their “internal group”. Just throwing an idea out there.

I have met Steven1 and had many talks with him while in CR. We have also exchange emails and phone calls at home, so we do not bore everyone on the forum about own personal agendas. He is a sharp guy with a different approach and outlook in life. He can be a little rough on the edges but if you get past the crud, you will see the message, just like we do for Greengo and some others. Not making excuses or apologies for him. He is what it is. But like I do many times with so many others, if I do not like their comments, I just do not read them. Sooner or later they will move on to a different song or sucker. I’m just surprise at how easily most of the vets have fallen to his basic attacks and ridicule of them. Laugh it off and move on. Like we said many times, “do not feed the trolls”. The problem is that the vets will allow some of the barter from some “internal trolls” but not others and that is what is coming across as clique.

The $.02 from another angle….

Remaining neutral in this sea of love.We all do things in different ways and get different results. What works for steven1 does not work for everybody. What works for cujo does not work for everybody.Personaly i go to Cr to drink and meet chicas not to make friends. However the few crters i have met have been alright even when i have had major differences of opinion with them in the past. That being said there is cliques on this board and there is nothing wrong with that. What a newbie should remember is that some of these guys have been going to CR for a long time and/or live there.Chicas have become secondary to friendships to some of these people..They have girlfriends or regulars and dont always have time for a newbee. My advice to a newbee if you cant stand on your own go with a good friend(the scene is not that hard to pick up). While i find steven1s and others posts refreshingi also get much information from the unaposters(my pet name).A newbee IMHO should read/research this board then go have a good time, not try to impress vets with storys of price, freebies etc.On the flip side if you post that you will always help out a newbee you should be a man of your word.Just my 2cents.

J0sie,

You make some effort to portray some CRT vets or insiders as "homo" or "queer":

Not sure why that is necessary or appropriate, because you are not describing gay behaviour. After all, what might a reasonable person think about your 'internal group'?

Pot? Kettle? Black?

Nevertheless, I must admit that your "a pack of homo’s on the last dick on earth" is pretty funny. :D

Ciaociao

Oh, please, people. The last thing we need on this board is people acting "offended" because someone used a term like homo. In this "hobby" we use lots of politically incorrect terms, Puta, Gringo, Whore, Cien ;)

I think we can all just accept that political correctness is not in the cards, nor should it be.

As far as personalities go. "Anonymous" internet often makes people say things they would never say face to face to someone else. Ok, not "makes" but people get this feeling of invincibility when there are no perceived consequences and act like idiots. Lots of people (including myself) on this board have done that at one time or another.

Living here and visiting here for years and being a member of CRT for several years, I guess I could be concidered a "CRT Vet", or maybe even an "insider'. Just WTF difference does that make? Being the type of guy I am and having done the MP tours, I have met probably in excess of 4-5000 guys here. And you know something? Everyone came here for the same reasons; yes, maybe looking thru a different set of eyes and with a different mind set, but ALL with the same overall objective :!: :!: . And out of all these, only 1 or 2 that I did not like and concider a friend.

Sure, sometimes "Vets" may jump a newbie for things like not reading or doing a search before asking a question that has been answered many times; sure a "Vet" may sometimes come across as being a know it all, or as being highly opinionate, or condesending, or overly critical. Hell, we all are human beings and as such we have flaws and make mistakes (I would be rich if I had a dollar for every mistake I have made in my life). BUT, for the vast majority, we all;old, young, vet, newbie, are a group of guys dedicated to our "hobby" and our primary desire is to promote, educate, and improve the "experience" for ALL in our "hobby" and especially in Costa Rica.

NO 2 guys are ever going to like 100% the same things. We all tend to promote that which we like and condemn that which we do not like. Probably the biggest flaw is that too often we tend to be too sensitive to criticism. There are occasionally guys who seem to have a "chip on their shoulder", but in time they seem to either loose the chip or just disappear. As human being, we all tend to be passionate about certain subjects and easily offended by those who dare to dissagree with us :!: ; but we are able to "get over it" quickly. I know for me personally, I have over the years had rather "heated discussions" with others, but most of those "others" are still friends and I respect their opinions (no matter how wrong they are  :? ).

As for as being cliquish and "blowing off" or not welcoming newbies, I just do not buy that at all. I have never seen a vet not be more than willing to help a newbie. And if there is anyone that feels that I have done that, I am sorry, it was not intentional! The one thing I will point out is that if there is a well known "Vet" and several newer guys, the "vet" can sometimes become "overwhelmed" and appear to maybe be ignoring or even "blowing off" someone-believe me I do not think that it would ever be intentional.

Jadcujo's original post starting this thread is "right on", thou his jab a Steven could have been left off :P

JUST TRY TO REMEMBER with 18000 members: There will be personality clashes; there will be differences of opinions, there will be some that you do not like personally, there will be small groups of guys who will develop a close kinship and bond, and these may seem to others to be cliquish, there will always be a very small # who just can not be happy with anything; BUT, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE THE COMMON BOND--CHICAS; and even with all its flaws (nothing is perfect in an imperfect world) CRT is the best site and best group of guys I have ever been associated with :!: :!: :D :D
