Well I am finally ready for my virgin trip to CR. I will be staying 4 nights arriving on the 12th. I am taking some advice from this forum and throwing myself to the wolves by staying at the Del Rey for the first two nights and the SL the second two nights.

I hope to meet up with as many fellow CRT members as possible. I do have several questions which are likely buried somewhere in the forums but have not found the but I will get to them later.

I have to first say thanks to you guys for making this the most well prepared trip I have ever taken. I have been going to Europe for my mongering activities since I had lived there for several years before moving to the United States. I became bored of the scene there and really did not know where to turn until now. I did consider other parts of Central and South America as well but, this board changed my mind. I also considered all parts of Asia too but my wallet changed my mind for me.

As I looked at this site I went through the newbie section which laid everything out for me as well. The up to date research is absolutely phenomenol. I followed the links from Orange and Ace as I prepared. I have made plans which are made to be broken based upon BangBang57's leg work (but will visit New Fanatsy's at least once before I boycott). I could drop so many names but I think that there is no need repeating what most of you already know.

I have arranged airport pickup by DosGringos because I just cannot see why anyone would make another alternative. I have arranged for a walking tour by Pops. I do not speak Spanish at all but, usually can pick up the necessary catch phrases (living in 5 other countries has taught me linguistic survival). I have read the links for the mongering Spanish phrases but am still missing a few such as:

Are you OK with multiple positions including, doggie, missionary and cowgirl. If anyone knows how to ask this all at once or individually in Spanish with local slang ... I would appreciated it very much.

The next thing I learned is that there seems to be a daily happy hour at both SL and HDR. But, what time is happy hour? As for the HDR I get that there is a $10.00 chica fee. The wording implies that this is per chica but, I just want to be sure someone can confirm this for me? As for showers at the MPs are they mandatory? If so then how do you protect your stuff? Any advice would be appreciated. Since, my memory is shot most of the time or at least has its limitations then is it best to negotiate photos up front? If I want to ask for a particular service such as sexo anal in an MP then is there usually someone I can find out who in there provides this service? When meeting girls in the SL or HDR ... who makes the first move? How does the usual negotiations take place (assuming that there is a standard). Does the girl suggest the price and you immediately counter offer and does this take place before or after all of the other expectations have been covered to prevent upselling ... or is that even an issue? Is is best to pay at the HDR and SL in colones or dollars ... seems to me that I can get a better price in dollars but with the current rate I can convert into a better price of colones and 500:1. I expect to settled down in my hotel by early to mid afternoon. PM me if you are going to be in town and are looking for a wingman in the early to late evening on any day that I am there.

OK, I have lots more questions but of they all escape me at the moment, ...told you my memory cannot be relied upon :).

BangBang57 your advice with the cheap mp3 players was golden. I will bring a couple as well. But, did the dollar store for some things as gifts. Oh, one other thing. Just how pristine do my American dollars have to be?

Again, sorry if some of these questions are redundant but, I can only read so much and became a VIP member withing 48 hours of discovering this board ... the forum is VERY effective.

Cheers!

Nice intro brother ....
I will answer the question that I know These girls know more positions than you and me both I would not worry to much about that in the negotiating unless it was about a ride down the dirt road or hanging from the cieling fan( bad idea)

I'll answer a few-
Happy hr. is usually at 5, or between 5 and 8 since we are on tico time. :)
10.00 fee per guest at HDR.
At HLH the showers are in the room, at NF the chica has a card key and your stuff is safe in the room.
If bringing cash your bills should be in good condition, especially 100's unmarked and untorn (no CB serial #). You can exchange for colones at the bank upstairs at airport or just do it at a bank downtown. I always use colones when in CR, for everything.
Print out a cheat sheet- http://www.oanda.com/convert/cheatsheet
Study your spanish!

Relax and have fun, we want a newbie trip report.

As for your valuables in the low rent MPs, in probably much more than 1000 visits  , I have never had any problem with theft of my things when left in the room while showering. That is not to say that there is not a first time for anything, but the MPs and the chicas would have a lot more to loose from getting a bad rap than what we would ever have of value in our cloths. That is assuming you are not stupid and carring things you do not need here.

I advise guys when here to not even carry your wallet (keep it in the room safe), you do not need it. Hell since mine got stolen several months ago, I have not even bought a new one. Carry just what money you will need each time you leave your room (dranks, taxis, food, and if going to a MP, $$ for this), your room keys, and a copy of your passport and entry stamp! THERE IS NOTHING ELSE YOU NEED! OK, if you want to take pics, your camera (but never take it out of your pocket on the streets). OH, and everytime I tell guys this, I get "but I need money to pay the chica if I take one from the DR or SL" DUH!! who is going to pay the independant BEFORE getting back to the room???

The above holds true for every country you monger in. It's just common sense. The less you carry the better off you are.

I dont know about you Spanky, but I have blown through my baht budget on more then one occasion drinking. Its the damn bars with their shooter lists!

I guess Im not as precautious as some. I typically carry what I would expect to incur in expenses in one day. I also carry one ATM card.

But YMMV. But when you see some of the cash some of the guys carrying around Pattaya it makes you shake your head.

I carry a tad more than I should but I don't carry the ATM card more so that I don't lose it since I don't carry a wallet when I travel.
