I was planning on bringing my Laptop, but I see some of the hotels provide one. Is bringing your own advisable or should you just rent one? Are the in room safes large enough to secure them (Hotels Amistad, Claritas, Dunn)? Thanx |

I would bring mine if I were you. I stayed at SL for a couple of months last year and Amistad for another six weeks. In all cases, my laptop was out, plugged in with external speakers and it was never touched (unless a chica wanted to check her email in which case she asked). I have not seen a hotel safe yet large enough for a normal sized laptop. |

Thanx Pac... I was planning on it, but my wingman was worried, so I thought I would ask the pros. Since I have your attention, would YOU rather stay at Claritas or Estrellamar in Jaco? AND would you bus it there or rent a car? |

Neither. I would stay in San Jose and buy a postcard. ![]() |

I thought you were the one that didn't like Jaco. BUT, if you had to pick, which one would it be? |

The Copacabana is the only place I stayed in Jaco. The water temp in the shower would change by about 100 degrees without notice. Only place I have ever been that I was afraid to close the shower curtain because I knew I would have to dive out headfirst to avoid "lobster syndrome". While I was there it rained and the first floor flooded with four inches of water running through my wingman's room. I would recommend it. |

Just keep in mind that they are now sometimes reviewing and coping laptops upon re-entry into the USA. Not saying anyone has anything to hide , but why risk the time wasted if you don't have to. In addition, many of my photos are of pretty girls that look 18, 19 or so, but how could I prove that ? |

I do not carry mine when I travel. But I only leave Costa Rica for 71.99 hours at a time. I search the internet and god only knows whats deep in a hard-drive. Maybe carry an old one and try to dump and erase the hard drive I guess. Depends on how long you are here for and if you may want a break from "E-mail addiction". But if you got work to do, then... |

I always bring my laptop since I use it for more than just checking email, like listening to ESPN Radio. Also like being in my room for things like reading CRT. I've never had my laptop searched in my 15 trips, but if you put chica pics on yours and are paranoid about it being searched than email the pics to yourself and delete them from the laptop (and any camera memory cards). |

I always take my laptop on every trip. The few instances that I have locked, they do fit in La Amistad safes. About laptop searches, maybe it happens but so far they do not even given me a second look and although I’m Hispanic those that know me can tell you that I can pass for an Arab. No problems so far. |

I always bring my laptop and my IP phone. I use teleblend (formerly sunrocket). I stay at the Del Rey because of the internet jack in the room. This way I can have my home phone and laptop with me at all times. I cannot afford to be disconnected from my home phone. And I know that costs are higher at the Del Rey, but the cost savings in having my home phone with me swings the red to black. BTW The safe in the DL also holds my IBM thinkpad without issue. |

If you have nothing illegal on your hard drive, why the worry, let them copy my hard drive. I hope they enjoy what they find. |
