AHHH I just got back from my first trip to CR and am going through crazy withdrawl, I neeeed to go back asap!

Is there any way to use an american cell phone service (such as AT&T) in CR without it booping instead of regular ringing. If I could find a way to use my current cell phone number seamlessly over there I could go back any time without anyone knowing that I'm gone. I could be like yea honey my stupid job is sending me to boring ohio again, and just go to CR and it would be amazing.

get majic jack, forward your phone before you leave the country to your majic jack #...

Then, every time you're in your room, you can answer the phone like normal...

It's perfect...

I go down there, tell work I'm working from home, they don't know the difference, I don't pay international rates for the calls...

I was just being sarcastic but you are right. I agree about the Magicjack. I will be “working” from room 312 between 2/24-3/3 and will attend work conferences and do some light developer work during that time. I always have my ATT phone forward from home to my MagicJack and nobody notices any difference. I take a step forward and have my Skytel pager forward also and get my pages in CR.

I simply tell people I'm going to Costa and that's that. I bring my phone but leave it turned off. I don't want anybody thinking they can get a hold of me, which means even in emergencies.

As soon as the plane takes off from MIA, I can almost hear the strings of responsibility snapping off the wings of the airplane as it takes off.

QBF and JOsie....I know you don't pay international for incoming calls. Do you pay them for outgoing with majicjack when you are in CR?

And then are you just simply recording the same viocemail greeting as is on your US cellphone? Since I KNOW you guys don't sit by the phone all day.

Magicjack, I can't believe that I didn't know about that before. Is the internet connection in the HDR fast enough to work with it properly? If not, which hotel has internet speeds that are good enough?

This seems like it is exactly what I need.

What do you guys do about outgoing calls and the caller ID showing your magicjack number?

I was thinking that I could have my at&t cell phone forward calls to my magicjack number, and then when I need to call someone (the wife) I just use my at&t cell phone and call her and just limit the amount of talking I do so my bill isn't a million dollars. I don't mind paying for outgoing cell phone calls if it gives me peace of mind. If you see any flaws with this idea please let me know.

1 - Any incoming calls to your MagicJack, regardless to where they have originated are free.
2 – Any incoming or outgoing calls to the USA are free, regardless of your location.
3 – There is a charge for international calls made by you using the MagicJack, see their website for calls rates but they are very low compared to other plans.
4- I have use the MagicJack from the SL, Amistad and Hotel Castillo with perfect calls.

I sit by my phone the ENTIRE 9-5 business day....

I just "go to the bathroom" in 35 min intervals at NF, or 1hr intervals at HLH...

It's a stomach problem...


making calls from a cell, when u r in CR MAY show up with your number, or it may show up as 9999999 or any number of things...

best bet is to get a program called: Call wave, and it mimics your cell phone number on caller id...

Or just play dumb, and when asked why your number shows up weird, say: "I don't know"

or call from Majic Jack number, and tell her your phone is out of battery...

it's simple really...

Save yourself some money, and just order it directly from their website: www.magicjack.com I think Radio Shack is about $40 for the Magic Jack, but it's 1/2 that on their website. Just my dos colones....
