Just curious to see what the various Board members think are the 3 most frequent newbie mistakes. Besides the huge ones like soliciting trannies, LOL.

Mine were:
1. Didn't negotiate price the 1st time. Over-excited.
2. Left pants with money on the couch while I showered, but did not get ripped off thankfully.
3. Drove in circles with taxi because I forgot the map to the hotel. Cost me an hour.

1. Poor negotiating because you're:



2. Having the attitude that these chicas are going to kiss your feet and give you everything sexually that you want because they need the money.

3. Getting trashed and making poor dupla agreements.

4. Realizing too late that you wish you knew more spanish so you could talk to the chicas in a way that showcases the charm, wit, and game you are otherwise stripped of.

5. Having a regimented schedule to follow i.e. MUST go to HLH or MUST go here and there. This also leads to bad or impulssive decissions.

6. Wishing you had booked your flight 4 or 5 days longer.

7. Not to popular to say, but chosing a chica waaay out of your league.

8. Not planting seeds.

9. Not staying hydrated or not enough sleep. The sexual olympics you put your body through requires rest..

10. (and perhaps my favorite) Not being able to go 24hrs in CR without getting laid. This also leads to poor decisions and it's a waste of money.
If there's nothing around, don't agree to a silly price with a chica just because she looks alright or because you feel like it's getting late. If it's not there, there's always tomorrow. Besides that gives you extra leche so the chicas can swap it (yea, that goes on too)

Isn’t number 7 wrongly worded? Did you want to said, choose a chica you can afford?

The number 8 is so critical if you are staying 3 or more days and so hard to grasp for newbies.

Overall great list and every newbie should be conscious of it on their trips.

i agree with #7 as many of my friends make comments about the girls i take ...my first trips i had to have the hottest girls and after spending 80 to 100 and the sex sucked i changed my type... i now hunt for the single girl or the one that gives me the eye as i walk by and not the hard sell...i wish i could remember names and get more phone numbers but i just dont ... the best advice i can share is be yourself, meet up with guys who might be at the bar sitting next to you..all are there for the same reason as you ...dont be a show off , give true info about girls and dont lie about price...it you cant get her off 80 so be it ...dont tell a buddy she went for 50 and you paid 70 ...also travel in groups as much as you can

The #1 newbie mistake in my opinion is INDECISION.

You see a hot chica, and by the time you decide to talk to her, she is gone.

Number 4, really? I would have thought this would have been at the top of your list.

Three most common newbie mistakes?
IMHO, they are:

1. Overplanning.
Don't plan anything. You have no idea what lies ahead of you. You're in a foreign land for the first time. Go where the wind takes you, and just relax and enjoy yourself. Get the "lay of the land". No doubt - you'll be back, so you can make better plans for your 2nd trip. But for your maiden trip, just go with the flow. Don't worry. You'll still get laid!

2. Not doing their pre-trip homework.
It seems that all too often, many guys will just jump on a plane, and head to some mongering destination, without ever looking at - or reading one of the many mongering boards out there, for that particular destination. They're unsure of transportation issues, the different and various accomodations available, fair-market prices for P4P, $$$ exchange rates, security issues, local weather, etc. etc. etc.

3. Never getting out of the gulch.
CR is a beautiful country, with so many things to see and do, besides trying to phuck every woman they encounter. I know that you're only in CR for a few days, but try to take one day off from the gulch (with or without a chica) and do / see something else. Take a day tour. There are tons of them to choose from. It will give you a chance to see other things that CR has to offer, and you can re-charge while still having fun. Go fishing, try a zip-line, see an active volcano, ride an ATV in the rain forest, go to the beach, go white-water rafting, go golfing, drive around some smaller towns and get a "feel" of how native Ticos live, etc.

All good advice. Not really playing much these days, but it would probably have helped... Although, not really my style to think it out and calculate so much. I just liked whoring and drinking, much like they did in the old west. haha I think a lot of it comes down to if you do it occasionally or if it is the main part of your life. When you Phuck 300 girls a year, I can understand how shaving off that $20 is important. For my frequency it isn't a real issue.

I know right . I feel pretty strongly about the ones before it though...

My only big mistake was not understanding tica time, I was still on U.S. time and like the U.S. I'm always on time for an appointment. I wasted quite a bit of time waiting and actually got very frustrated. No more though 20 minutes late and I'm out the door Next!

lots of good advice.Just remember mistakes happen and we all make/made them.IMHO if you have a good time mistakes don't really matter.

#1 - Indecision - or lack of action -- I remember that it's a weird new situation to be in, looking back, honestly the best thing to do is simply to pick the Chica that most appeals to you and go for it.

#2 - Non negotiation - Again I remember it's a strange situation but stick with the advice read on CRT and make sure you understand what will happen and what it cost

#3 - Not exploring the other P4P venues. I personally think it's easy to stick with 2-3 places but it can be very rewarding to take a little bit of time each day to investigate new places/venues. Not only for the Chicas but I have also met some great guys to hang out with in SJ.

Spanish is a very helpful tool, for sure.... I do know when not to use it though. I have been in many situations over the years where they want the touristy gringo and I play the part. I have played dumb before, they see it as weakness and let their guard down. I couldn't imagine not speaking any Spanish and hanging out with a chica. I see this a lot here too. Monger and puta in a bar/ restaurant just looking at each other with nothing to say. At least learn some basics, like words on the atm machine. I always get stuck behind a gringo that can't even push the right button to get it in English. Was studying a little medical spanish this morning. My next DR persona is a plastic surgeon from Miami. I'm going to see how many bolt ons I get to check out so they can proudly show me their work. haha
