I will never forget my first trip to the Del Rey in August 2007. I remember walking into the Del Rey, which was packed with beautiful girls. I had a hard time moving past them all with my suitcase as I navigated my way to my room. It seemed as if every time I went to the bar the place was packed with tons of talent. I even managed to find a couple girls who did not seem to be hardcore pros. I met a tica who had lived in Brooklyn for awhile with family who spoke perfect English. I also met another tica who spoke fluent English that I had a blast with. I asked her how she learned English so well and she said her parents sent her to private school.

I than returned in January 2008 and the Del Rey had only half the talent as my first trip. I still met some great girls, but it was not the same.

My third trip was in March 2008 around Memorial Day. Practically all the girls I encountered were hardcore pros. Many not even wanting to sit with you for a drink just $100 lets go. Again the talent was even less than my January trip. I could even go into the Del Rey in the afternoon and be sitting at the bar with only one other gringo in sight and maybe 10 girls floating around.

I guess my question is what gives? Is it time of the year or season? Is something keeping the ticas away that don’t appear to regularly work? Is the atmosphere at the Del Rey changing or is it just me. Don't get me wrong I still love the place.

I’m contemplating my fourth trip in December either before Christmas or shortly after. I’ve read in the archives this is not the best time to go. I would imagine you would find a lot of ticas trying to make money for Christmas or trying to recover from Christmas. I’ve thought about checking out the Philippines or Thailand, but it’s hard to justify the expensive plane ticket and travel time. Any thoughts on what a trip would be like in December?

Usually Memorial Day comes at the end of May. December is ok as long as you don't expect much from about the 23rd to January 1. Lots of chicas looking for that Christmas cash. Usually, the Colombianas, Nicas and Dominicans are back on their home turf. So, lots of Ticas around.

Your first trip was about a year ago so I do not think there has been a dramatic change in the HDR. Has the HDR changed over time? Yes. The influx of girls from countries other than CR has made the scene more hard core but that has been a slowly evolving shift over many years not the short time described by Erman.

I think any one has to throw out their first experience entering the HDR. It so unlike what most are use to they simply are overwhelmed and it is difficult to totally comprehend at the time and more difficult to store accurately in our memory bank. How many times have guys posted here how they like to take first timers into the BM and just watch their reaction?

I think Erman has made more of an adjustment to the HDR scene over the past year then the HDR has changed over the past year.

so when i was looking at my soon to be new car it was all shiny and i loved the sound system, the way it smelled, the shiny paint, even the hubcaps looked nice,
now a year later it is just the car that takes me to work.. kinda the same.

I agree with ID to a certain extent but I just returned home yesterday and the DR seemed more hit and miss than usual. One thing I also noticed was there is a lot more fugly chicas than there was a few years ago.I figured they showed up for the labor day sausage fest and had so much luck they stuck around.Way to pollute the waters guys!

Erman,

Everyone is different. There are some guys who will visit CR for 20 or more times before it will begin to lose its' appeal. Than there are some like me who after a relatively few trips decide they want to visit somewhere else.

Although Im certain that I will eventually visit SEA sooner or later for the time being I love Latinas. I love the curves and the feistiness in them. For the forseeable future Colombia scratches my itch in just the right way.

If CR is starting to lose some of its' magic I would suggest that you spend some time in thought about if the time has come to visit new places. While a ticket to Colombia might cost a little bit more I usually get that back within 2 to 3 days with the money I save on everything else.

Just food for thought, 8) 8) 8)

Haven’t been to CR in a year or so, so I’m not sure. But I think there is just such a wow factor the first time you go to the DR. It is hard to match that first experience. I felt the same way the first night I walked down Walking Street in Pattaya. As you get used to it you start to notice things that you didn’t notice on your first trip. Or maybe I’m totally off base and it has changed. :D

The first time one walks into the Del Rey is definitely a memorable experience. I still love San Jose and I am planning my next trip. It just seems like each trip there were less and less girls working the Del Rey. The first trip is definitely an experrience, but I can notice a drop in quantity. Maybe different times of the year or better, with more girls working or it could have something to do with the Del Rey not allowing the Columbians in until a certain time now.

I was not aware of any time restrictions for Colombianas. Is that correct?

My belief is that the bad economy has made it less attractive for many girls to go to the HDR. I know that sounds weird, you'd think the bad economy would make them more inclined to go to make extra cash, but the problem is, it's been a buyers market for a while now and I think some of the girls are getting frustrated with going there and staying all night without much business, or worse, settling for a price they feel is beneath them.

It's still busy at peak times, but as you may have noticed, it's a lot more cut-throat. More girls are putting on the pressure to get clients, because they can't just wait for them to come to them anymore.

You can still find what you're looking for, you just have more chaff to weed through.

Can someone let me know what time the columbianas get there so I can stand at the door and hand out Franklins to the little darlings as they come in.
