Friends,
I am flying from Chicago and have a connecting flight in Charlotee before I get to the dream land.
My question is how is the immigration check at Charlotte when returning.
Please let me know your experience and tips to avoid any problems.

Also, should I check in my bag for this route or just have a carry on.
By the way I am flying U S Airways.

Regards
Jvcking

Love clearing customs there because it is never crowded with flights.

You basically clear, grab your bag, recheck, then go clear airport security. While it may sound tedious it is not. If you can carry on without the need to check a bag you will save some time.

I am flying through there in a few weeks and then again on Labor Day. It beats Dulles customs hands down.

Cheers!

I too always enter the U.S. at Charlotte on USAIRWAYS. As Spanky indicated, the process is simple, and the Charlotte airport is not real big and is easy to navigate. After clearing Customs and Immigration, you will immediately see that USAIRWAYS has a counter to recheck your bag.....no big deal at all.

As for Immigration...the agents are just doing their job by throwing a few inquisitory questions at you: "How was your trip?"...."Make any new friends?"...."What was the purpose of your trip?"....etc., etc.

It's best to be prepared for this with answers like: "I was there for dental work."...."I was looking for a place to retire to."....etc., etc.

I have never had a problem with Customs and Immigration at Charlotte.
