I thought the word monger or whoremonger was in the bible but apparently not, a couple online searches turned up nothing as well as on some word origin sites.

Etymology: A homonym or a "play on words" of the term horticulture. A combination of the words "whore" + "culture". The word "Whore" itself has some offensive contemporary connotations but it derives from the Old English hōre and ultimately from an Indo-European base meaning “to desire†that is also the ancestor of the english words cherish & caress, which is not so bad if you think about it. The word "Culture" derives from the Latin cultura meaning "tillage" and later from the p.p. stem of the Middle French colere meaning “to till, tend, guard, cultivate or worship.†Those original roots make the term seem more relevant to horticulture than to what we currently think of as culture. The meanings "the intellectual side of civilization" or "collective customs and achievements of a people" didn't come about until the 1800's. And the current usage of "Whorticulture" is only now becoming more widely known and used.
