Post subject:  Sportsman's or Others close to Del Rey

So, the other day, I put up a post asking about using Cash at the HDR to avoid having anything linked back to my credit card. I was also wondering about same day bookings, and find out that the HDR is almost always 100% booked.

So, after reading all this, i'm thinking the HDR may not be a good place for what my needs.

Does anyone know of other hotels around the same area that may take cash and be ok with same day reservations? Does Sportsmens?

Thanks, this board has been great for me as this is my first time.
I'll return the favor buy buying some drinks while I'm there... I'll post again in soon in the Roll Call section.

Most of the good hotels are booked solid a long time in advance, you might try the hotel Amistadt, a couple blocks from the SL, since its under construction there might be rooms available. Its just not a good idea to show up and start looking for rooms. One thing you might consider is joining CRT, that way you might just get a discount on a room. I saved more than the cost of the card on my first trip.

I would love to join, but it asks for address information, also, I think something is mailed to address provided.

Infortunately, I cannot risk that.

MTape-
depending on the time of year, it is always possible to come into SJ and find a place to stay--the DR is not always 100% full, Greg, one of the owners has said that they operate at 85/89 % occupancy rate... not full. However, if they are full--Presidente, Morazon, SL, Balmoral, Europa, Amistad, Castillo, Holiday Inn...the list goes on. Do some research to alleviate your anxiety if CC is an issue.

Try this:

Go to your bank and purchase a prepaid debit card. Not sure exactly what they're called. They work exactly as a VISA card...you can use the number to hold the room and pay the bill. There will not be a statement unless you specify an accurate address to which they can send the debit statement. :D

Hope this helps. Otherwise, think about renting a P.O. box in a nearby town, and have any C.C. statements sent to that, rather than risking a boss/wife/GF finding your bill.

Keep in mind that a couple "chica-friendly" hotels also house eco-tourists, families and business travelers. Hotel Presidente and Amon Plaza - Clarion come to mind. If you're in C.R. for business anyway, no need to hide these hotels.

MT,
Send a PM to Admin1, regarding membership. To sign up as a VIP member, he is very discreet, and he can send your CRT card to whatever address you give him. Or better yet, you can have your new card waiting for you at ZB when you arrive in SJO. Just a thought.....

there, now isn't that better?

NOW back to your original question...

Yes, there's tons of hotels to choose from. If you're worried about CC charges, you can ALWAYS stay at the Holiday Inn, or the Clarion, which are centrally located, both within 5 min walk to ZB or HDR, and nobody would know the reason you're there...

If you still feel the need to bring the girl to some other place, you can always try something like motel eden (a drive in, park & phuk motel) which is quite nice.
