I have done a search on this forum and many posts are from like 2005 so im looking for any recent experiences there or suggestions. i plan on stopping for a day or 2 in Limon before i hit up PV for some beach days and i dont think i really wanna bring a chica from SJO with me. Is there any places that i might find some local action? most posts say that there was not much action around there a while back. but then i read that Limon is where all the sailors pick up their girls. If i find something nice in Limon should i see if shes down for a few days in PV? I'm looking for variety but i also dont want to spend 3 days in PV alone. I will be there mid July and prob mid week (could go weekends if needed) incase time of year or days of the week matter.

Some of those 2005 posts were probably mine - I've been to the Carribean side twice now - the last time in December of 2005. Didn't spend any time in Limon, but frankly, after driving through there I'm not sure why anyone would want to. As for the action - if "sailors" are hitting it there, I would expect it to be a somewhat rougher scene where you'd want to be on your guard at all times and probably have a wing man who knows the territory.

As for PV, like any "non-monger" destination, you might get lucky with the locals or some tourists (mostly European on that side), but personally I would definitely bring someone with me. And be sure to venture south to Cocles, Punta Uva and Manzanillo where the beaches are as pristine and gorgeous as you will see anywhere in the country.

I posted a report from a July 2005 trip to both Limon and PV. Had a really good time but action in Limon was quite limited. Had a great time with an average looking chica but service was outstanding. Would have taken her on to PV had my Spainish been a little better at time. Bar Washington is main pickup bar in Limon. I personally like Limon but it gets a bad rap from CR tourism and the locals there resent that attitude. They are for the most part very nice people and more English is spoken there. rbc100
