Post subject:  Speaking Spanish

I have read on this forum that speaking Spanish is an advantage, but since I don't speak a lick and are going next month, am I at a big disadvantage or will I get by fairly easy? Do Zona Blue girls speak English? Del Rey?

Mulder1964:

Do not be concerned you'll get by just fine at Zona Blue and the hotel Del Rey without speaking Spanish. Spanish is not a requirement for enjoying what these places have to offer yes it would add to the experience but you'll still have a very good time. A large number the girls have English skills. The only real requirement for enjoying yourself is money. Don't leave home without it. And once you're back home do not send any.

Mulder.... Lee is right. He's made a zillion trips over 10 plus years and he knows the word "taco" and that's about it!  Of course, this isn't Mexico so "taco" doesn't do him any good in Costa Rica.

The sight of "American" money will turn an ugly guy into a rock star. The Greenback is a language all chicas speak... worldwide.

At the very least try to learn your numbers and some basic greetings, etc. You'll be glad you did.
