Post subject: | HDR check-in question |
I’m planning my first trip to CR. Planning, working out, reading the posts (Thanks for the reports Prostoner!), 1-hour Spanish lessons each day, and getting ready to book the flight. I live in California. Majority of flights have me arriving San Jose airport 9:45pm. Assuming flight is late, takes awhile on a Friday night to get through customs, then take a taxi to HDR for 8 days of mongering. My question is: Will it be crazy checking into my suite Friday night approx 11:30pm? Would it be better to arrive early Sat morning instead? |

No problem checking in late at night, might be some nice chicas around around midnight (usually are).. Not familiar with immigration and customs late at night, buy you also, may want to check out Taca.com if you are flying through or anywhere near LAX They have direct flight daily (or should I say NIGHTLY...red eye) from LAX to SJO that arrives early in the morning no wasted days travelling plus you will be through immigration and customs in 5 minutes if you are a fast walker or near the front of the plane..very few flights arrive same time www.taca,com Lacsa (LR 605) Operated by Taca Airlines dep: 02:25 - Los Angeles (LAX) terminal 2 arr: 09:00 - San Jose (SJO) terminal equipment: Airbus Industrie A319 Lacsa (LR 604) Operated Taca Airlines dep: 18:15 - San Jose (SJO) terminal arr: 23:30 - Los Angeles (LAX) terminal 2 equipment: Airbus Industrie A319 Always my wingmans 1st choice......... |

Gracias! El Silencioso I noticed those flights and thought it might be better to arrive early in morning. Get the dude to show me how to operate the safe, w/o having my little head wanting to run back downstairs! |

If you do the Taca flight you arrive early moning so you can check out the MP's as a warmup for the Del Rey your first night. Might no be a bad plan.rbc100 |

CalifKen, Welcome to the board. And good luck on your 1st trip. You're in for a hell of a ride! Fridays around 11:30 pm ??? Crazy in the Del Rey ??? Hell yeah!!! Why would you want to get into town the next day? Phuck it! Just do it! You'll be amazed when you walk into the lobby of the HDR for the first time, like a deer in the headlights, carrying a suitcase, at "prime time", on a Friday night! The chica's radar will be zero'd in on you, like flies on sh*t. They'll be waiting for you to go upstairs, and get back down to the action a.s.a.p. Don't be surprised if one of them walks over to you, and asks if you need help un-packing! My dos colones..... Just get there! And after you check in, just make sure you don't leave your suitcase in the lobby by the front desk! (You wouldn't be the 1st to do this)! ![]() MG ![]() |

![]() How'd you get your stuff back? ![]() Ken, There are no bell boys at the hotels. It's pretty much, "here's your key, go figure out your own shit". You won't have any problems. And like MG said, it will be crazy at that time, and you may get an offer to accompany you right up as you are checking in. Politely decline such offers. AVOID THE COMMON NEWBIE MISTAKE: DO NOT TAKE THE FIRST GIRL THAT SMILES AT YOU. SIT DOWN, HAVE A DRINK, LOOK AROUND, TALK TO A FEW, THEN MAKE A DECISION. |

Agreed. Sit and have a cool drink and look and listen first. Ask fellow travellers if they know any preferred chicas. |

CalifKen: I'm not sure I completely understand your question but I will answer it as I understand it. A late arrival in San Jose would not be a wasted day. There's plenty of action at the Del Rey and the advantage of already being established in your room and having the travel out of the way for Saturday is just too good to turn down. Now I'm sure this will very but in the last two years I've had two Friday night 9:45 p.m. arrivals and in both cases by 10:30 I was standing at the check-in desk at the Del Rey. Like any hotel if you have a reservation and do not show for the first night your credit card will be charged. The Del Rey functions just like any other hotel there will be some one to show you to your room and help you with your luggage. There's a young man by the name of Frank who works in this capacity who I would recommend you make friends with. He's a good man to be on a first name basis with. Any time spent in San Jose is not time wasted as long as you've done your homework and show up with a good attitude and a little money. Lee |

I must respectfully disagree with you guys... Accept the 1st invitation that you get while checking in *IF* she's something you want. take her upstairs before you've even unpacked, hand her $80, phuk the hell out of her for 30 seconds, then send her back downstairs. Now you can unpack at your leisure, all your stuff was still packed, so you didn't have to watch it like a hawk, you got your 1st nut, and now you can concentrate on unpacking, and going downstairs for that cool drink before round 2... As far as getting there the night before, or the morning after... GET THERE THE SOONER THE BETTER... |

AAhhh yes, some great nuggets of information. Yes, I want ot get there as soon as possible and not waste any time not in CR. My concern was lack of bellboy to help out. I will look up Frank (Thanks Lee). As for the chicas...I will try my absolute best to keep my eyes from pooping out, my tongue draggin the floor, and my drool kept in my mouth (no chivo here!) BUT...with that said, I also like the idea of QuickBlueFox of loosing that first nut, then trolling the BM waters for that trphy pink snapper! Here's a little funny one for the fellow CRT'ers....Told my better half I was booking a fishing trip to CR. She said, have a good time. She just got another bonus check and wants to pay for the flights! Oh Hey baby!!!! |
