I am curious how much drinks cost (colones/dollars) for beers and simple mixed drinks (bacardi coke) in places like the Del Rey, Casino Club, Jazz Cafe, etc. and then normal bars like in El Pueblo.

It depends. Prices vary among the different establishments. The differences are surprisingly large. Obviously, at tourist places like DR, ZB, and SL drinks will cost more than at a Tico establishment. Idem wins the award for having the highest drink prices. ZB receives an honorable mention in that category as well.

I only drink beer, so I can give you those prices. At DR, an imported beer (Corona) is about 1,800¢ (~3.50). At a Tico bar, it will cost under a 1,000¢.

The domestic beers are cheaper and there are often 2x1 specials, but never in DR, as far as I know.

Corona is now 2k at BM, a Coke 1100, used to be inexpensive to buy a few drinks for the chicas at the HDR...

buy in at the tute table for 50.00 (US) OR 25,000 col. you will be able to drink for free...smallest bet is 1000.00 col.or 2.00 just sit there and milk it ..yes you will be drinking house liq. brands or draft beer ..but its free and you will meet some good guys at the table...plus if you get the right seat you can veiw all the girls walking by and just pick the ones you want to talk to without them bugging you for drinks or "where you hotel baby" this is at the delray..who knows you may win...i am not much of a drinker but on my last trip , i had drank over 20 drinks ....if i am paying its easy 100.00 , i lost about 80.00 that night and i tipped 2.00 a drink ...and had a ball .....its just better for me ..as when i go into the "war zone" top floor or near the bar ....i tend to buy the sweet girls a drink so it get a little pricey for me...

Imperials are 2 for 1400 only 100 yards up the road from the delrey at the Baja Beach club. The only problem is the lack of ladies there. Guess if you wanted to talk to just one, you could always bring her up there.

I couldn't agree more with Chilimike. Whether you're in CR, Vegas, or a casino cruise, a great, economical way to drink is by sitting at a table (roulette, blackjack, etc.) Unless, that is, you get your ass handed to you gambling! The few times I've stayed at the HDR, that's how I usually enjoy a night of drinking. As long as I manage to break even or close to even at the table, I'm pretty much spending between 1 and 2 bucks a drink. So gamble conservatively, tip your cocktail waitress, and enjoy.
