Bad Wolf, you are truly a cara de picha...the poster you commented on is obviously not a native English speaker. Play nice or go home.

Newbie to Costa Rica. Have loads of experience and have spent lots of time in Thailand. The main reason I have decided to join this forum is that I now have the opportunity to spend time in San Jose due to my job-airline.

Already have two quick trips under my belt both with "fun and games" involved.

Think I got overcharged and think I paid the "newbie stupid tax".

Havent checked out any massage places and I would like to on my next trip, which is next week.

BTW Love the Sportsman. Thought the Del Rey was dodgy......

Nice first post. Yeah, the DR is kinda dodgy  Used to be better. MP's are definitely worth checking out. There's a couple of threads in here with recent info. Or, hook up with BM Pops to shorten the learning curve.

Welcome to the board!

Pops used to offer private tours, he may still. I visited a few years ago (whatever user name I used back then is long ago forgotten) and contacted pop beforehand. Whatever small fee he charged was well worth it -- he knows all the best places and what you save from not getting overcharged or not finding a girl you like is more than enough to pay his fee. I hope he's still in business. Very nice guy.

A lot this info is stale, it hasn't been updated in over 4 years.

True Orange, Then again, there hasn't been a lot of activity on these forums for four years.

When I was in C.R. in January 2021, the Del Rey was still closed, not due to Covid, but because the hotel was repossessed by the Bank of Costa Rica. When Big John died, he left the hotel and properties affiliated with it (Monkey Bar, Key Largo, Del Mar restaurant) to his longtime lover/mistress/girlfriend, who promptly ran the business into the ground for lack of knowledge about the business.
I was told that BCR will eventually reopen the hotel as a "family friendly and business oriented" hotel i.e. no casino, no chicas.

The Covid Carnival and Costa Rica's reaction to it has slammed "el ambiente." Limits to bar capacity, the closure of most massage parlors and clubes nocturnos, etc. No place for chicas to work.

When I was there, you could look for chicas at the Taormina, the Castillo and the SL. Don't know about Jaco, as I didn't get there this trip.

While much of the info could use a good updating and remodeling, much of what is here is still valid.[
But yeah, it needs updating.quote="Orange"]A lot this info is stale, it hasn't been updated in over 4 years.[/quote]

If you referring to the the Del Mar that was part of the Key Largo building across from the hotel, that property has been taken over by the Costa Rican government and will be converted to a cultural center in the future.

Great thread, I've been reading it all night. Bookmarked as well.

I'm taking my first trip to CR this winter, and am seeking as much current info on Gringo Gulch as possible. I'm especially interested in the best monger hotels, where the chicas hang out/work. Convenience and safety are two of my priorities.

Ideally, most of my activities will be confined to, or very close to, my hotel. That the establishment has reliable security staff is important to me.

Don't know if it's true, but I've read that Gringo Gulch is in the process of being "sanitized" by the CR authorities. Hotel Del Rey seems to be permanently closed. But the talk on this forum is that SL - and a few others - are alive and kicking.

I'm especially interested in knowing how much, as of 2023, chicas typically expect for a session (one hour). As for top shelf talent - the 9's and 10's - how much more are they charging than, let's say, the 7's and 8's?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Dude, as they say lower your expectations, & you won't be disappointed. You are NOT gonna find 9's & 10's hanging out in gringo gulch. Plenty of 6's & 7's who will show you a good time for $80 usd or so.

40 mil was always my floor going back to 2009. And always pay after! BBBJ is always a must and DATY if enticing.
