I just started planing my first trip for costa rica in may I hope the weather is not too bad.I already booked my flight and working on my room at the del rey.I wanted to stay at the presidente but they were sold out they main reason its cheaper and no chica fees but the del rey seems like it will be pretty fucken fun. I have a few questions Can you charge the chica fees to your room and pay on credit card when you leave as far as the 10 dollars each girl? Are the tours that they offer at the del rey any good Iam gonna be there 4 days and five nights Iam sure I will wana some tourist things? Do the bars and restraunts accept credit cards or is it mainly cash only? Also Iam almost 30 are there any mongers down there in that age group? As far as the chicas Iam not worried about that Ive been doing tj for 10 years I live in San Diego California,Ive been too some other places in Mexico also did some side mongering(cancun, mazatlan and puerta vallarta) and I went to rio de janiero last october so Iam ready to monger in central america. My last question in tj its strictly cash but in rio at some of termas you could use credit cards what about the massage parlors in costa rica? |

I'm sure others will have answers to your other questions. |

Depends. The smaller Tico restaurants (i.e. Soda Peru) do not accept credit cards. Places that cater to mainly tourists will usually accept CC. However, they don't accept ALL credit cards. From what I saw, most places only accept Visa and MC, no Amex or Discover. And I've seen places that only accept Visa, no MC. Best to pay in cash (colones not dollars). By paying in colones, you avoid exchange rates, CC international transaction fees, CC premiums (10-15%) that some places will tack on, and finance charges. |

Zona Blue will take credit cards for a small fee-1 or 2k. |

Gatomike, Yes, your C.C. (Visa) will be accepted at many nightclubs, Zona Blue MP, your hotel and at expensive restaurants. However, I'd avoid using the C.C. for anything other than your hotel bill. C.C. theft and abuse are concerns in San Jose. Cash will usually get you lower prices. ATMs are plentiful. A (probably unnecessary) word of advice: Notify your ATM bank and C.C. company a week prior to traveling to Costa Rica. Otherwise, you might find your charge priviledges suspended without notice; this can be damned inconvenient. ![]() |
