I have read recently people having problems with their credit/debit cards. A few pointers: I always call my credit card company before I go and let them know I am traveling international and they mark the dates on my account. I also tell my bank to take the daily limit about off my debit card. $400 some days is just not enough. I go down with cash, last couple trips I have been killed in bank fees on the "international conversion fee" or something that allows the to make more money. Leaving on the 27th for 6 nights at the ZP. Hope this helps |

Those fees are a ripoff and here's a related post... https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15604 Amex was sticking it to me so I went to my local bank and inquired about my Master Card/Debit Card fees, they offered to waive any foreign transaction charges and 4 free ATM transactions/month anyplace in the world if I simply switched accounts. Love a small-town local bank. 
Some may disagree but it's also no big deal to get a money belt and just take cash. |
