i am new here, but an old hat when it comes to being a monger LOL. i have been to angeles city, philippines 3 times now and know it better than most veterans that go there. i have heard a little(very little) about CR as a P4P destination. i know nothing about CR as to where to go where to stay, the average costs of drinks, costs for hotels, cost for a tica(prefer all night). if anyone has questions about PI i will be more than happy to help, as i will be asking some questions about setting up my cherry trip to the too.

Welcome to the board.

You've managed to find the best Costa Rican Mongering board on the internet. The information that you have available to you is unlimited. I would certainly suggest a VIP membership (cost = $39). It will give you access to all the VIP areas, lots of photos, great maps of SJO by some of our esteemed veterans, and discounts at numerous places all over CR.

IMHO, you'll need to put aside some time before your virgin trip to CR, to read as much as possible. You could spend (literally) weeks reading through the different sections of this forum. But the more time you take to read, the more info that you'll have, which will only help you to have a better time in the land of plenty.

Security has become a great concern lately. Read through some of those threads, for your own personal security. And, if you don't know any spanish, it would be in your best interest to learn some before your trip.

If I may make a suggestion: Start with the Newbie's Section with Ace's lists of basic information. Check the "Massage Parlors, Bars & Nightclubs" section for RBC100's Tico Bar list.

One thing that's cool about the V.I.P. membership is that in addition to the discounts, access to photo galleries etc., you also get access to an excellent printable map of all the currently known hot spots in San Jose...and when I say "hot spots" I'm not talking about wireless Internet connections!

Another useful tool available to you right now is the "Search" function, which works really well here. Looking for a hotel? Search for reviews using the hotel's name. There have been several thousand articles posted here, lots of information. It can be challenging at first to find what you need, but we're here to help.

Finally, I invite you to send me a private message (PM) if you have specific questions for which you can't find answers. I've always got time to answer questions from fellow members. Of course, you can always post your questions publically as well.

Girls in C.R. offer sex at prices ranging from $8.00 for a half hour to $300.00/hour (the absolute Miss Universe at the Blue Marlin). Personally, I won't pay over $100.00, and I expect more than an hour for that amount, but YMMV.

thank you very much for not only the welcome, but also your imput and offer. it is very much appreciated. at this stage of the game i am trying to decide between CR and Negril, Jamaica as i wanted a different view and change of pace from AC, as of this moment i have begun a search for personal safety on this board and will expand from there. thanks again

Why Negril? I'm just curious. I know that HEdo 3 is there, and reports from WSG talk about a limited number of pro girls. Of course, one does have th quasi-legal hemp scene there, cool resorts & beaches etc., but i have been told by frequent visitors there that P4P is available, rather expensive, and linmited.

Prostitution wise, C.R. has much more variety. Girls come from all over Latin America to work C.R. for awhile, send money to their families, etc. It is not an exagerration to call the Hotel del Rey the biggest brothel in the Western Hemisphere.

As far as the security situation goes... I'm blind and have to be doubly careful when traveling anyway, but I didn't feel particularly threatened at any time in San Jose. The secret seems to be to travel only in taxis at night, travel in groups, and pay attention to normal third world security precautions (don't wear jewelry, don't flash cash, don't be a drunken dumb-ass).

Enjoy looking around here, amigo. If you want both beaches and rent-a-poon, C.R. has it in Jaco Beach (although Negril is decidedly more picturesque).

why negril? well i have always wanted to go to jamaica as well as to CR. just need to which to hit first. as for P4P Negril has the most of any Jamaican city or so i've been told, and prices of 100USD. at this point i am playing the gather all information game

Okay, I'll break it down for you:

Scenery: Negril wins

p4p: San Jose, Costa Rica wins hands down

Prices for poontang: Negril = US$100.00/hour typical. San Jose price ranges from +/- $12.00/hour to $150.00 hour, depending upon venue.
San jose offers massage parlors, where prices range from $20.00/hour to $50.00/hour. Beauty/quality of women is good.

Security: IMHO Negril is still more dangerous. Most resorts advise guests to never leave the compound at night, to take taxis everywhere, and to avoid street vendors.

Costs: C.R. wins again. Hotels range from $35.00 night - $250.00/night (Penthouse, Presidential suites) in "Gringo Gulch." Hotels near the Central Market charge $10.00 - $20.00 per night.

Beaches with Hookers: Jamaica and C.R. might be equal here.
The only real beach scene in C.R. with prostitution is Jaco, but p4p can be found in other beach towns as well. You'll have to hunt for it. If it's beach scenery, bikinis, surfing, snorkling, scuba etc. you want, both countries have fabulous beaches.

One nice advantage of C.R. is that you can get the whole Jamaican experience on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast at places like Manzanilla and Puerto Viejo de Limon. When C.R. was building its (now-defunct) railroad, workers were imported from Jamaica. The immigrants remained, and today you can experience the rastaman lifestyle on C.R.'s east coast, yet be only a few hours from the nightlife in San Jose.

Well, you've got plenty of time to make your choices and reservations. I personally enjoy certain green aspects of Jamaica and would love to go there, but I don't see Jamaica particularly as being a hot mongering destination. Yes, you can find hookers there (hell, you can find hookers in Fargo ND), but for a "scene" with wide variety of girls and prices, venues and of course Latin culture, C.R. is it for me. YMMV.

some very sound advice, and i love your break down. where is the best place to find the *ahem* reasonable priced LBFMS(little brown f**k machines)? i am more into THN and GFE types as opposed to wam bamming and kicking them out . there is a phrase i use in the PI to let them know i am not BF material, but good for an all night f**k-fest.

1. Pensiones on calle 8
2. Pensiones on calle 6, colorfully called "The Fellini Ranch" by CRT member PaulyVegas (BTW, once you have a V.I.P. membership, you can check out his recent review of the best girls in various venues, posted two days ago).
3. Low-end tico massage parlors (see RBC100's list); 70E (a.k.a. "The Dungeon"), 747, Casa Lila, ChaChaCha, la Bella Mansion
4. Low-end tico bars/strip clubs: Las Margaritas, Bar Camelot, Bar Monaco, Bar Sancaa
5. Mid-priced, mostly tico massage joints: Oasis, Veronica's.
6. Better tico/gringo hybrid nightclubs: le Grillon, Kamur, Pantera Rosa
7. Middle range priced, mostly gringo places such as the New York Bar.
8. Higher end, mostly gringo massage places: New Fantasy, Zona Blue
9. Pick up bars catering to gringos, clip joint strip clubs etc.: Key Largo (bar, live music, lots of girls), Blue Marlin (Gringofied bar, part of the Hotel del Rey/Key largo complex, casino next door), strip clubs like Tango India, Lipsticks, Elite, Hollywood, Puro Platino). Beware the strip joints at this level. Not good value.

You're a GFE guy, which is cool, so am I. Any pickup spot can offer girls who give GFE, but it is truly a hunt for the Holy Grail. This is why membership in CRT can be so valuable; guys here often recommend nice girls who enjoy kissing for instance, who are unrushed and friendly, and who will go with you for $60.00 - $80.00/hour.

Read and research! You've got nine months, so do it!

Welcome ticavirgin. Glad to have you here and look forward to your input on Phillipines. I am kind of going in reverse of you. After nearly twenty trips to CR and a handful of outhers to outher Latin destinations ,I will be making my cherry trip to the Phillipines Thanksgiving day. You will find CR considerably more expensive than Phillipines but if you get out of the gringo scene and into the local scene it will be considerably less expensive with short time not being way more expensive than Phillipines.
El Ciego gave you a good list to start and I have posted a good list of Bars and MP's in the MP and Bars section as a sticky and you will find a good map in the VIP section. Let me know any questions and I might have a few for you on Phillipines. You have lots of time to plan so enjoy.rbc100
